After being attacked by body shamers online, Selena Gomez clapped back in the classiest way ever with an
empowering post on Instagram. The "Wolves" singer took to social media to share a clip of herself relaxing with friends along with a thoughtfully penned message.
"The beauty myth an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern women in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self-consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society's impossible definition of flawless beauty. I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone. Wind in her sails," she wrote, capping things off with a cheery rainbow and a purple heart emoji.
Fittingly, the message was posted along with a short video of Gomez and her friends living it up in the Sydney Harbour, passing under the picturesque Sydney Harbour Bridge and right by the even more picturesque Sydney Opera House. The video is set to Alvvays' "Dreams Tonite" and, at one point, Gomez's pals recreate that iconic "Titanic" scene on the prow of the yacht. Clearly, Selena is living her best life.
And after battling lupus, weathering a life-saving kidney transplant, consistently speaking out about her
struggles with anxiety and depression, and kinda-sorta breaking up with Justin Bieber for the nth time? She most definitely deserves it.
