The brainchild of Essie's Michelle Saunders (who also created two neutral options for that runway), the new-fangled inverted French manicure is a modernized take on the classic, classy manicure staple.
Here's how to recreate it chez vous using Essie polishes:
1. Apply a first base coat to clean nails
2. Apply one coat of blanc
3. Apply smokin' hot to the center of the nail, leaving a thin, white arc around the entire base of the nail
4. Brush on a layer of allure (adding this layer creates the "cement" hue)
5. Finish with matte about you top coat
And, there you have it. A new, decidedly "street" version of the formerly staid French manicure.
