Nicki Minaj Collection for K-Mart

The "Starship" singer has been sneak-peeking her line on Instagram -- please make her stop

Nicki Minaj is a lot of things; a Platinum-selling recording artist, the most-charted female rapper in Billboard history, a former "American Idol" judge, and she even has a perfume and very own Smartphone app.

What the 30 year-old New Yorker is not, in this humble, mother-of-an-11-year-old-girl, writer's opinion, is a bastion of all that's good and true when it comes to style and, well, let's not mince words here -- class. Which is why, when I first got wind of the fact that Minaj had signed a clothing deal, my mommy-senses began tingling -- and not in a good way.

For going on 10 months now, Minaj has been talking about and otherwise teasing her upcoming debut fashion line , the cleverly titled "Nicki Minaj Collection," which she has described as "Harajuku Barbie," at every chance she's gotten.

And, since everyone knows that timing is everything, as New York Fashion Week came to a close last week and London got underway, Minaj grabbed the momentary lull to take to Instagram and leak some advance photos of her forthcoming styles.

So, how to put this nicely? Now that I've seen these images of Minaj posing in her creations, I'm not quite sure that my eyes will ever fully recover. (The one bright spot in this otherwise blight on the clothing industry? This line will only be available at K-Mart, so folks can choose to shop elsewhere to avoid having to see it.)

To say that these garments are better suited to Halloween costumes than to everyday-wear would be an affront to ill-advised, sluttily dressed trick-or-treaters everywhere.

These "clothes" border on criminal. They are obscene. They should be shrouded in a "pole dancer only" section of the mass retailer. They must be non-flame retardant. They're so wrong on so many levels that I fear for Tim Gunn's health (both physical and mental) if he were ever to lay eyes on them.

Again, this is just one woman/mom's opinion, but in a world where girls are objectified and sexualized and bullied and otherwise challenged, do we really need to have celebrity's endorsing (and proliferating!) these types of styles?
