Miley's Can't Miss Halloween Costume

Plus David Bowie's Louis Vuitton moment, a makeup vending machine, and more of the top stories of the day

Was your Halloween costume as good as Miley Cyrus as Lil' Kim? Because Miley channeling the Queen Bee at the 1999 VMAs (remember, the one where Diana Ross reached over and touched Kim's pasty-tipped boob?) is pretty good. And Lil' Kim even gave Miley her blessing. "Awwww. Look at my baby @mileycyrus tonight!!! Looking GORGEOUS!!! I wish I was there to squeeze your boob :) :) Love U so much !!!! #mytwin," she tweeted. Ain't life grand? [Styleite]

• Be still our beating hearts! Androgynous heartthrob David Bowie serenades model Arizona Muse in an upcoming Louis Vuitton commercial. The spot features Muse floating over Venice in a frickin' hot air balloon while Bowie sings and plays a harpsichord. Life is tough when you're a gorgeous model. [Fashionista]

• 3D printing is used to create virtually everything these days, so why not fine jewelry? Designers like Iris Van Herpen and Kimberly Ovitz are utilizing the printers, and now Neiman Marcus is selling 3D-printed jewelry online. The two items -- a heart pendant and desk sculpture -- are produced by Shapeways, and retail for $295 and $395 respectively. Because 3D stuff can be produced on demand, there's no risk of ordering way too much and then having it sit around collecting dust in a warehouse for months on end. [Fashionista]

• Handbags, we're apparently doing it wrong. Because according to UK retailer John Lewis, women carry around about $2,000 worth of stuff in their bags every day. Does that sound crazy high to you? Because that sounds positively insane to us. Then again, we mostly have gum and old receipts floating around in our bag, so there you go. [Jezebel]

• Oh teenage boys, with your penchant for Axe body spray, will you ever learn? A Brooklyn prep school was shut down and eight student were hospitalized after a noxious gas was released into one of the classrooms. The gas was later identified as Axe body spray. Strangely, amazingly, this isn't the first Axe-related student injury. In 2012, a student spraying the pungent stuff tripped off a fire alarm. Sprayers beware! [Gawker]

• File under: Dream life status! L'Oreal installed a makeup vending machine in New York's subway system, offering subway riders the chance to touch up their makeup game during their morning commute. It's dubbed the "Intelligent Color Experience" and will allow you to match your makeup to your outfit. So far, there's just one -- at the Bryant Park / 42nd Street subway stop, but if it proves successful, they could be rolled out all over town. The subway vending machine model makes sense: a study found that nearly a third of all women apply makeup on their way to work. [Telegraph]
