Lady Gaga's Used Fingernail Can Be Yours … for $13,000
File this one under "disgusting ways to waste money"
Despite this kind of fanaticism, if someone told me I could buy one of Debbie Gibson's used acrylic nails -- not a whole set, mind you, just one -- I'd have told him he was insane. And I bet most fans would have felt the same way.
My, how things have changed.
The acrylic nail pictured here is currently up for auction, and the bidding has reached almost $13,000. Of course, it's worth noting that this nail belonged to a pop star whose fans are beyond obsessed. In fact, they consider themselves a different species entirely -- they're the Little Monsters.
According to the Artfact.com auction site, the nail was recovered by a stage crew member after one of Mother Monster's "Born This Way" concerts in Dublin. "I noticed an object on the floor of the stage, which at first I thought was a guitar plectrum. When I picked it up, I saw it was an acrylic nail," he says in a letter that comes with the nail. Um, gross.
While I'm repulsed by the idea of owning someone's -- anyone's -- used nail (not to mention spending an absurd amount of money on it), I applaud the stagehand for seizing the entrepreneurial opportunity.
I wonder what my Debbie Gibson swag would go for on eBay.
