OK! Magazine Apologizes For Its Kate Middleton Diet Issue

Tacky! A day after giving birth, the Brit tabloid was already touting a weight-loss plan

Give the lady a break: Just a day after Kate Middleton gave birth to her son and heir Prince George Alexander Louis, the British tabloid OK! published a cover devoted entirely to if, when, and how the Duchess of Cambridge would get rid of her unsightly post-baby weight.

Guys, chill out.

After the issue was released, British television presenter Kate Hill (pictured) launched a campaign calling on moms to boycott OK!. "I think all mums should boycott @OK Magazine for this cover ONE DAY after #Kate has given birth. REALLY?" she wrote on Twitter. A moment later, she wrote, "New Mums. If the @OK Magazine cover has made you feel bad, here's me 2 months post baby. YOU MADE A HUMAN! x."

Hill's campaign worked, and OK! came forward to apologize for trying to defy the laws of nature and the rules of propriety. The mag's owner, Richard Desmond, issued the following statement: "Kate is one of the great beauties of our age and OK! readers love her. Like the rest of the world, we were very moved by her radiance as she and William introduced the Prince of Cambridge to the world. We would not dream of being critical of her appearance. If this was misunderstood because of our cover it was not intended."

Uh-huh. If anything good has come out of this, it's that Hill's Twitter campaign has helped other women feel better about their post-partum bodies. She reports that dozens of women have now felt empowered to share what their post-pregnancy bellies really look like. So kudos for Kate(s)! [Source]
