Why People Are Suing Over EOS Lip Balm Ingredients

Give your EOS lip balm ingredients a thorough review if you have allergies or sensitive skin

EOS has gained enormous popularity in the lip balm market for its fun flavors and unique product packaging, but some people allege that EOS lip balm ingredients are causing them to break out in a rash. They have even gone as far as filing a lawsuit against the manufacturer. However, it may not be as hazardous as the suit suggests. Read on to learn more.

Legal Action Taken Over Lip Balm?
A class-action lawsuit was filed on January 12, 2016, in Los Angeles, California, claiming that EOS lip balm ingredients caused severe rashes and blistering in some users. One of the plaintiffs in the suit was Rachael Cronin, who claimed that the lip and face rash she developed was the result of using EOS lip balm. She experienced lip cracking, redness, bleeding, and small pustules.

Ms. Cronin's doctor confirmed that the symptoms were an allergic reaction to some of the ingredients in the EOS Summer Fruit Lip Balm. Ms. Cronin stopped using the product, and her rash cleared up. This story was the same for many other users who were upset that there wasn't some type of warning on the packaging about the dangers of certain EOS lip balm ingredients.

EOS has settled the suit out of court and confirmed that their products are made following the industry's quality standards and tested for safety in independent labs as well as dermatologist tested. They also announced that they would start placing warnings on their packaging about the potential for an allergic reaction.

EOS Summer Fruit Lip Balm Ingredients
If you have any allergies or skin sensitivities, it's a good idea to be aware of what is in this lip balm before you use it. EOS Summer Fruit balm is flavored with strawberry, blueberry, and peach. You'll also find the following ingredients:

  • Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil
  • Beeswax (Cire D'abeille)
  • Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil
  • Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil
  • Natural Flavor (Aroma)
  • Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)
  • Stevia Rebaudiana Leaf & Stem Extract
  • Tocopherol
  • Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil
  • Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract
  • Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry) Fruit Extract
  • Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract

Natural Products May Cause Allergic Reactions
While EOS lip balm ingredients include all-natural, organic ingredients, they may not be appropriate for everyone. When you have an allergy or sensitivity to certain foods like nuts, strawberries, or sunflowers, your skin can also break out when that product is applied topically. Some people are also sensitive to vitamin E. If you have this sensitivity, regular use of an EOS product may leave your skin red, irritated, and chapped. Consider applying your lip balm sparingly until you are certain that EOS lip balm's ingredients won't cause a reaction.
