Dog Vogue Is Exactly What You Think It Is

Photographer Sophie Garmand imagined a lush couture world for dogs

One thing we know for sure about fashion: it's for humans. Sure, some of these humans are equally interested in outfitting their helpless pets in shirts, sweaters, and sometimes even Halloween costumes, but we don't foresee a future in which our pups will be picking out their own wares from vast wardrobes, nor do we imagine we'll be buying any pet fashion magazines any time soon.

But someone wanted to imagine this future, and this "someone" would be photographer Sophie Gamand, along with pet couturier (so yeah, that's a thing) Anthony Rubio. "Fascinated by the inherent anthropomorphism of this pet culture," Gamand shot a series of portraits featuring chihuahua models dressed to the nines in Rubio's signature pieces "as if they were supermodels from lush fashion magazines."

Small dogs in sweaters usually look pitiful, like they're crying out for help, but we have to say, the chihuahuas of Dog Vogue don't seem to mind it much. Maybe they just have finer taste in clothing than their owners have been giving them credit for. [Jezebel]
