Connie Britton may be the star actress of ABC's hit show "Nashville," but playing country music legend Rayna James may not be Britton's most important -- nor most challenging -- role. That distinction goes to her fairly recent job as a single mom. Three years ago, the 47-year-old actress adopted a baby boy, Yoby, from Ethiopia. It wasn't her plan, but when she lost both of her parents within a few years of each other, she decided she didn't want to put off having children any longer. We recently caught up with the "Nashville" star to find out what every mom on the planet would like to know: The secret to juggling a successful career and a baby without going crazy.

Now that you're a mom, how do you relax? Do you relax?

That's a good question! I'm a relatively new mom, and I took on a brand new job at the same time [that I adopted my son]. For me, finding a place where I can just sit quietly and meditate is a way for me to relax. Of course, as a mom, it gets harder and harder to do that. So I find one thing that really helps is hanging out with my friends who have kids. A support system is important.

There's a lake by my house in Nashville, and I find if I can just walk down there every now and then, it really relaxes me.

What soothing beauty treatments do you indulge in?

Listen, there's nothing like a good Epsom salt bath. Another thing I love, as simple as it is, is using cold cream on my face -- it's almost like a moisturizing facial, and you can feel it sinking in.

As a mom on the go, what makeup tips do you recommend?

Find the thing that really works and is really functional. I love Pond's towelettes to remove makeup. They're great because they're moisturizing and toning and so easy.

When you don't have much time to get ready, what makes you feel beautiful?

A good bronzer. Enlivening my skin with a little bronzer or tinted moisturizer goes a long way and makes me feel younger.
