(I started this topic)

I do not have an eye for make-up, so I need help from you experts. I have blonde hair, blue eyes, and very fair skin. What color eyeshadows should I use?

The colors to use depend on what kind of look you want - natural, dramatic.... I would start off with a few neutrals like tan and gray at first and put color into your liners like midnight blue or a forest green. This will be less harsh looking than black. If you have the time, go to a department store and tell the counter person what you want and they should be able to help. Let them know if it's not to your liking and start again. Also, check out beauty magazines and adds to get an idea of a style.

That's the same as my coloring. When I want to play it safe, I tend to go with pinks during the spring/summer and more brown/gray tones in the fall/winter. I avoid black eyeliner and mascara. It is way too harsh. Stick with browns. If you'd like subtle color, try a dark green or plum shade. For mascara I like brownish black shades.

If you are still unsure about colors, Almay has makeup customized to bring out your eye color. Look around the makeup section at a local drug store. You can always take note of what shades go best with blue eyes and either go with their sets, or look for similar colors in brands you prefer.

You will want to use color theory when picking your eyeshadow, which is just a general rule of thumb you can do whatever you like. The complimentary color to blue is orange, so any eyeshadow with an orange hue is going to makeup your eyes pop. So use bronzes, golds, ambers, burnt browns. http://www.naloinc.com

There's two wonderful books that have been on the market some time. "Colour me beautiful", and "Colour me beautiful make-up" both by Carole Jackson. Both are BRILLIANT! Once you know your particular "season", and the corresponding colours (I'm guessing you'd be either a Spring or Summer), you are set for life! You will save bucketloads of money, as you'll know what colours NOT to buy. It applies to both make-up and clothing colours.
The wrong colours will make you feel drab. The correct colours will make you feel a million dollars.
And, no, I'm not a CMB consultant, just someone who used to wear the wrong colours until I found my season!

There is a site I have been using at www.zuneta.comthat gives you advice on the shades that work well with your colouring and skin tone etc. I bought some korres eyeliner it recommended and it worked well.

Also, the book by laura mercier called 'total beauty secrets' is great, like the suggestions above, it gives good tips and taught me a few tricks on how to apply products - still refer to it every now and again.
