(I started this topic)

Hi :)

I was wondering whether lip plumpers really work. I have heard about them for several years and heard that Maybelline just released one.

If they actually do work, please advise on favorite brands.

Thanks all :)

I love Bare Escentials Buxom. It plumps, has great shine, and taste like you just had a breath mint.

I have problems with plumpers burning my lips but I did find one that does the trick without the burn. Shiseido's full correction lip treatment will gradually plump your lips over a two week time if used twice daily. This is the only one that I have found that doesn't burn my lips when i use it.

In my opinion, they work but only for a short time, I hear a lot of people saying that it burns there lips, it gives a tingling sensation and that last upon application. Lip plumper contain cinnamon or ginger that irate the lips and make them swell, if it does not bother you than fine, but if it irate your lips, don't use it.

Here some info I found

The way lip plumpers work is the cinnamon oils and sometimes ginger contained in the ingredients are common irritants to the skin. This irritation is amplified when placed on one of the thinnest skinned, and most sensitive areas of your body — your lips. The resulting stinging sensation is your lip letting you know there is an irritant on your lips. Your body’s natural response to this irritant is to send extra blood to the area of irritation to try to protect it from harm. The extra blood flow in the lip area, due to the irritation, is what makes your lips appear ‘fuller.’ Most lip plumpers on the market today work to ‘plump’ your lips through this process of irritation.

I've used them but I don't like the way they burn my lips. I used the Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips before, and it stung but was still tolerable. Sephora brand lip plumpers burn like a demon though and don't last very long at all!! I'll stick with regular gloss.

I have tried and loved Christian Dior in cotton candy. It was a fuschia like color with lip plumping abilities. I would get compliments on a daily when I wore it! But it has be Dc'd. :( You just have to pick one you like. Some are made with peppermint or cinnamon and give your lips a slight tingle. I and a girlfriend tried one at Sephora called lip venom and I know beauty can be painful, but I had to wipe it off it tingled so much! LOL!
