Hey all. Just got a cosmetic teeth whitening procedure done at my local spa. Its apparently a new treatment done as part of the beautifying package at the spa. I had never heard about it so I did some research. It was not like the teeth whitening they offer at the mall, I was pampered and had my mani and pedi done while I was under the light.

One popular tooth whitening product that you can use is bleaching solution that contains peroxide for bleaching tooth enamel. The bleaching agent in these products is usually carbamide peroxide, which is available in 10, 16 and 22 percent concentrations.

Thanks for the reply Earknown. Have you had any experience with the various teeth whitening systems? Whitestrips worked fine for me, but I hated having to wear them for 2 weeks. That is part of what makes the spa treatment so attractive to me, it is a spa procedure. Complete with mani/pedi. Thanks for your reply!

I was told if you have crowns it will not beach them. Does anyone know if that is true?

I heard (from a dentist) that crowns, veneers, bridges, etc. (dental work in general) can be restored by a bleaching process back to the color it was when it was put in your mouth, and that's it. It can't make it whiter than it was made (for whatever color your teeth were then), but it CAN remove stains that have built up on the crown since it was put in (they are susceptible to stains, just like other things). Bottom line: their original color can be restored, but no magic can happen! I am not sure, however, if this holds true with every method of whitening...
