Is e.l.f. worth a try or is it just another cheap brand?

I have never tried it and wont because I am a professional makeup artist and have to use products of quality. If they are only charging a dollar, you pay for what you get, you cant expect to get a Shu Uemura or Chanel quality eyeshadow for a dollar. I think they have cute stuff, I would try the body care and I give the sets as gifts, especially the brushes, to a young person. http://www.naloinc.com

I purchased the eye shadow brush at the Big Lots for a dollar. Great brush. I went back and bought 5 more. I wish they would make a stippling brush just as good as their eyeshadow brush, lol.

I don't really care for ELF myself. I had bought an eyeshadow set and some lipgloss once. The eyeshadow was really dry and crumbly and flaked on my cheeks. The lipstick seemed just plain cheap. In my opinion it's just another *really* cheap brand.

I had an order with them long time ago with quite a lot of products, but end up ignoring them all. The only thing I still remember about them was the pencil eye widener was so hard and hardly deliver anything when I use it :(

Yes i have tried it. I must say it is wonderful because they're cheap, and i have a very sensitive skin, matter of fact i always say that i have the most sensitive skin in the world, so it was kind of scary to try these cheapies but since even Oprah was raving about this i gave it a try, and surprisingly, it did not irritate me. I like the All-over Colorstick for like a dollar, it gives nice blush on the cheeks, can use it as a retouch for lipstick too, and can be used as eyeshadow. Another thing, i have really oily face but this is not oily as well! GIve it a try, if you go to their website and sign up they'll send you discount codes every so often for 50 percent off your entire purchase. Hey if it worked for my sensitive skin it should be even worth a try for you if you don;t have sensitive skin right?

The only things I've tried from there is the therapeutic lip conditioning balm and the wet gloss lash & brow clear mascara. I can say that the balm goes on smoothly & does help with my dry lips. And the clear brow mascara tames my brows, so for $1 each I think it's worth it. As for the make-up, I don't think I would try it b/c I think the higher end brands probably last better. A friend of mine says the make-up brushes are good though. You can go to their website & see where they sell their products locally. I found mine at Target, but they don't carry everything.

There's a lot of products that work for some people and dont for others. I mean with $1 you're not really losing much by trying it out.

I like ELF. They do have some decent products - but it's like any other makeup brand. For some people, ELF is great and for others it's not. I, personally, HATE their eyeliner pencils. They are very hard and tug at the delicate skin on your eye. But then, I usually don't go for eye pencils - I like automatic "pencils" with creamy, gel-like formulas like CoverGirl's eyeliners and Avon's glimmersticks. Their liquid lipstick is decent though - it comes in a dial-up tube (where you turn the bottom and it clicks and pushes the product to the top) and the product feels like gloss but has more coverage like a lipstick. I also like their eyeshadows - I've never had a problem with them flaking or being dusty. Maybe other people have gotten an older product? I don't know. All I know is that they go on really smooth and velvety and they last all day if I use a primer. I have to use a primer no matter what anyway since I have very oily lids. I've heard good things about the brushes too. My suggestion is to try to find it locally (Kmart and Target carry it) before deciding to order online unless you have a code for free shipping. I really hate ordering something online, hating it, and being out shipping costs. I've just ordered several products from ELF and I will let you know how I like them!

My biggest problem with e.l.f. is that their colors aren't dark enough. I know it's only $1.00 here in the States, but if you advertise a foundation as "dark" it shouldn't turn my skin ashy-white. I'm African-American; I need darker shades and e.l.f. doesn't have them. Too bad. I like the brushes and eye shadows, but the foundations, blushes and lip colors are all just too pale.
