(I started this topic)

Does anyone have any advice on this? I am turning 28 - and unfortunately still get breakouts - so i bought proactive - but I'm also concerned about ageing so should i use proactive and then also put on anti aging creams over that?

I switch up my acne treatments and my anti-aging stuff, plus I look for double duty products. So I use Retin-A, which is both good for acne and is anti-aging. Then I use a Dermaquest acne product at night that contians multiple ingredients, including Azaelic acid, which is also good for discoloration. During the day I use a melsama treatment product that also happens to contian salacylic acid for acne, and a moisturizing sunscreen with kojic acid. To the extent I want peptides and other anti-again stuff, I add those at night.

It can get rather complicated!

Bath and Body Works carries Patricia Wexler products and she has an acne line that also deals with aging. I've been using it for about 6 months and will never try another product again. I had problems with proactiv drying out my skin, but not with these products. I highly recommend them to you. A bit pricey, but they last a while and my skin looks incredible.

Thanks guys, keep it coming! I'm nearly 22 and still get acne (boooo) but am also starting to see some fine lines, so this is all really useful.

2nd Retin A

I also use Proactiv and had the same concern. I contacted Proactiv and was told their product should not cause any aging harm. Actually it should help the skin. Given that the toner has glycolic in it.
If you find you are getting drying results try the Proactiv Green Tea moisturizer. I have oily combo skin and it works great. I got mine on Ebay because it is pricey on QVC.

I've been using proactive for about 6 years. I never had really bad skin, just some blackheads and the ever popular once a month breakout. I use it twice a day every day and I've had the clearest skin of my life. It was a little drying at first but that was only for a short time. Now my skin is in balance - always. I also notice that if I happen to skip a day, I'll see some splotches forming. I'm addicted. If it works for you it really WORKS, I really just depends on your skin type.

Oh yea, the best part - I never buy new acne medications or stuff like that b/c I don't need them. I also can go without foundation - some days only a light swipe of Bare Escentuals and done. No more covering up anything. It really is that good.

I've never heard of ProActiv. Is it expensive?

You're not the only one. Luckily my breakouts are just localized to my chin, but I've also started to notice fine lines around my eyes. I feel like I'm too old for the acne and too young for the lines!
