Does anyone have an idea what might cause foundation to form tiny balls when applying, or also have that problem at times??? Is my skin too dry? (I moisturize first, always!) Am I applying too much? Is the formula to thick to begin with? It is annoying, and they are hard to "sweep off". It seems to happen more with certain formulas than others...

Sounds like it's past its prime. When did you get it? And what brand is it?

Thanks for responding..I was getting a complex. (LOL) It's Jane Iredale's Liquid Minerals Foundation. I got it over a year ago..(LOL) Okay, I don't wear foundation everyday, so it's hard for me to use up a bottle of it in just a few months.

Hmmmm...honestly, you might have just gotten a defective one. I've had that happpen with great products that I buy all the time--sometimes you just get one that probably shouldn't have been sold. I know you've had it for a year, but I'd consider writing/emailing the company to let them know what happened. You'd be surprised at how many companies are willing to compensate you in some way to keep you a happy customer.

Thanks for the advice...I never thought of that. I thought it'd be too late. I never spent that much on any cosmetic before, not even department store brands like Clinique or Shiseido.

Actually, I just purchased an Avon one a few weeks ago- and it did that very exact same thing. I don't think mine is "old" because it is a brand new formulation. It also has the foundation brush attached- so I was thinking it could be that. I would exfolate first, then see if that helps. This may sound gross, but the "balling up" could possibly be your face exfoliating while you are putting on the foundation. (I say that because I have an exfoliater that causes the dead skin to "ball up".

Thanks for the reply. I do exfoliate once a week, but maybe that is not enough? My skin is so dry. Also, I've been skeptical for awhile about whether there is really such a thing as "dead skin" as I thought it was another way companies use to get people to buy things! LOL

The pilling is probably due to too much product on your face. When you haven't let your moisturizer "sink" in to your skin the foundation will pill cause it has nothing to hold on to. Try letting your moisturizer set for about 5 to 10 minutes before layering on a foundation. If you use sun screen, let this dry completely before adding another layer of a product.
