The other option, is to continue wearing the expensive stuff...but pay attention to special deals and promotions. You may only have to ever buy the basics (foundation, powder, concealer), then get the eyeshadow, lipstick, and blush for free!

The few things that you should splurge on are your foundation and skin care. Everything else can go in the inexpensive pile especially when you are experimenting with a new color of eye shadow who wants to waste a tidy sum on something that you'll wear only once. Foundation is important and that one of the things that you do not want to go cheap on.
