I've always used gel on wet hair then blew it dry. Hairspray only when I needed a bit of extra hold - if I had pieces that really needed to stay in place, like an updo. Gel on dry hair tends to have a "wet" look that can be kind of scary. Wax on dry hair holds as well as gel without the wetness. But usually gel/wax first, then a spray to finish it off.

Usually men just slap on some gel and just leave it like that. For men that have thin hair though the gel sometimes hold but I see hair stylist finish off with the spray. So is it the correct procedure to usually start off with the styling wax/gel and finish off with the spray? Or is that apparantly for special occassions? Ah thanks! Do you have any reccomending choices in regards to the choices I was looking at before? Anything would help :)

I'm a male with long thick hair thats colored. I use shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. I use moose from VO 5 called curls before I dry my hair. I use another product from VO5 thats a curl spray, I spray each section of my hair before I roll it on hot rollers. And finally I use a hair spray to keep my curls in place all day.

How much are you wanting to spend? Redken has a very good mens line that specifies your hair needs . You would need the shampoo densify and they have some sort of volume type spray called bulk up . They also have a few pomades waxes and gels depending on the type of hold you would like. To finish off they have a hairspray. I like this line because it is specifically for men and it smells wonderful. Hope this helps
