(I started this topic)

Hi,
I love the "beach waves" look, but have no idea how to get it. All of the advice/instructions start with straight hair. I have curly hair, hence the dilemma. I really don't want to have to flat iron first. I was hoping for a quick style.

One thing that helped me was the how-to: http://www.totalbeauty.com/content/flash/c_sexy_waves_hairstyle
I have the exact same problem as you, steps 6-9 are about how curly people can get wavy hair step 6 was the only real difference and you only need to get the conditioner, it really helps. Also when mine is wet, if I comb, or brush it, it straightens out a little, I can braid it nicely then and either blow-dry it or go to sleep =] If you have time to blow dry it you can kind of finger straighten it into waves which also look really nice. I use a creamy mousse, leave-in conditioner and frizz serum that really help me, just make sure not to do too much more than that. Mousse helps retain the shape but if you add a whole bunch of kinds of gel while it's wet it gets frizzy and sticky and matted, one kind of gell may be okay, as long as it absorbs and doesn't just stick your hair together. Hope this helps you!
