Inexpensive conditioner vs. salon conditioner?

I have color-treated hair, and I have found that now I tend to use alot more conditioner than shampoo- so I go through it a lot more quickly. I do purchase salon shampoos, but I am wondering if the inexpensive conditioners work well. I hate to keep spending alot on salon conditioner since I use it up more! ( I will still use salon condtioner a few times a week). Also, does it really matter with conditioner since it basically all moisturizes your hair- even color-treated hair? Thanks!!!

I have color treated and permed hair, and I've found inexpensive conditioners work just as well as expensive salon ones. One brand I like is Pantene, also L'oreal ColorVive. I used to spend a lot of money on these salon conditioners, but I got kind of tired of it. I didn't think it was really much better, just like I've found drugstore brands of makeup can have as much, or better, quality than department store brands.

Wenn's conditioning shampoo is truly one of the best products ever. Once you use it, you will not worry about shampoo or conditioner again. Truly a force to be reckoned with.

Neutrogena's Triple Moisture line is one of the best hair care lines I've come across, salon OR drugstore. Excellent for permed/color treated hair, I know they have really expanded their line in the past year. The Deep Recovery Hair Mask is a fantastic product all on it's own.

My favorite conditioners are from Aveda. I once strayed from the line and had nothing but misery. Try the Damage Remedy in their line. It works excellent on color treated hair.

I think it just depends on the product. There are several lower end products that I use that I really like. One is Infusium's conditioner. It's awesome. I also really like Dove's conditioner (in the dark blue container). I use both high and low end products.

I'm the same way - my hair is long & thick, so I go through bottles of conditioner like crazy. I'm always stocking up on the inexpensive kinds (Herbal Essences, Pantene, Tresemme, ColorVive, etc.)
