I need help from someone on this! I have fairly normal skin but I've been experiencing weird dry/flaky patches on my cheeks and forehead recently. This occurred in the winter too and I thought it was mostly because of the dry weather but now it's getting warmer and coming back. My skin doesn't feel tight and it looks fine after a shower but by the afternoon starts to get flaky.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I used a moisturizer for sensitive skin (Eucerin) and usually use a Lancome serum, although I just ran out. I tried using a Olay Regenerist cleanser to help with the flakiness but it doesn't seem to have done much. Thanks!!

Maybe try a gentle nonabrasive exfoliant, like a fruit enzyme mask--I really like one by Murad that has papaya and pineapple extracts in it to exfoliate. The acids help to dissolve flakiness without irritation.
If your skin isn't at all irritated, something like Philosophy's lactic acid peel pads might work well too. They help keep your skin glowy and free of flakiness if you use them every day.

I actually didn't know this until recently, but flaking skin isn't dry, it needs to be exfoliated. Like pippiolotta77 suggested, try some sort of exfoliant...then moisturize.

Thanks! I'm going to Sephora today so I'm going to look into the Philosophy stuff....I've always wanted to try their kits. They look great!

I found this works the best for me: Before bed after washing my face I apply a night moisterizer and to seal it in I apply a thin film of plain petroleum jelly on top. It really works well and in the morning - No Dry patches!

Check out Oave Inside - it's a natural gelcap and it rebuilds cells and softens skin from the inside out. My 9 yr old had really chapped hands (on the top part and near the wrist). Last week we were going to an all day outdoor concert (and it was going to be over 100). I gave him one of the gelcaps because of the natural UV protection in it. The next morning, not only was he not sunburned, but he woke up and said 'mom, my hands are all soft again!' They were! I wanted to see how long it lasted so I told him not to take any more pills - and over a week later they are still soft. Check it out at http://www.OceanBodyshop.com

The gentle exfoliant is a great idea. Don't use a granular scrub though, that will only make it worse. A fruit enzyme mask would be perfect.

I have super dry skin, and my saving grace is Philosophy Hope in a Jar for Dry & Sensitive skin. You don't need much, and it really works.

I have dry, flaky skin that gets oily as the day goes by. I ADORE Aveda's Tourmaline Exfoliating Cleanser. Goodbye! flaky patches. So long! ashy skin. I am left with soft, radiant skin. I also use it on my chest area and it's never looked nicer.

This may sound crazy but the girls at MakeupAlley are obsessed! Yogurt mask! Go to the store and pick up all natural pain yogurt. Apply this to the face every week (more then once a week if you want) for about 15 to 20 mins. And I promise you skin will be so smooth and flake free.

Do some research on the web. You can find great recipes!
