Every summer, it gets insanely hot here (115+, I live in the desert, of course), and my makeup just literally seems to be melting off my face (as does my skin, haha). I want to look decent in the summer, but it feels impossible with all the heat and sweat. I almost don't want to waste my time putting it on when I know it'll be gone in a few hours.

I've heard you can get sprays to 'set' your makeup, but have never used one so don't know any names.

last summer i was in florida for vacation and it got over 100 everyday. my aunt introduced me to bare minerals there and it was wonderful. it stayed on all day in the intense heat [not to mention we were in disneyland on the 4th of july so it was practically doubled with body heat]. the eyeshadows were very minimalistic as well as the blush. it worked wonders for me. i hope it'll help you too.

If you don't have the itchy face reaction that some can get with mineral makeup, I would suggest minerals for foundation. For lips and cheeks, I would suggest a stain - several brands make stains that are good for both lips and cheeks. 3 Custom Color Specialists makes a great lip/cheek stain. Oh, and waterproof mascara, of course!

Have you heard about Cargo's new Melt Proof collection? I haven't tried it myself, but I saw it on the Sephora site recently and it looks promising.

I understand your prediciment. I'm a native Floridian that moved to New Mexico, so I went from hot and humid to hot and dry-both wreck havoc on your make up. Try to use a few products as you can-less is best. Start with using a oil-free toner or primer-helps absorb any excess oil on your face and gives you a clean slate to work with. You also won't get that slick look or feel like your make up is melting off because you won't have all the extra oil just sitting on your skin. I skip the foundation all together and use an oil-free tinted moisturizer and a little bit on concealor under my eyes and wherever else is needed that day. It gives my skin just enough color and it has SPF 30 in it too, so no need for additional sunscreen. I use Neutrogena's tinted moisturizer, it's great. I set it with just a bit a mineral powder to help with shine. For eyes, use a primer made just for eyes. Urban Decay makes a good one as does Mary Kay. They both also help your shadow to not crease. I use cream shadows alot when it's really hot out, they tend to stay in place a little better. Or you can use the cream shadow as a base for you powder shadow. And smudge proof, water proof eyeline is a must! Maybeline makes a great one-it's called Unstoppable. It stays put all day long. No more worring about racoon eyes because your liner runs. I use to wear it to the beach all the time. To get your blush to stay put, I recommend a stain or cream blush, they stay on better than a powder.

I live in balmy Florida so for most of the year it is hot and humid and keeping your makeup put is a challenge. I suggest using make up stick and just apply it on spots that need coverage and blend then set with translucent powder. Using a good moisturizer with sunblock underneath works good as a primer and makes the blending easy. Urban Decay makes an awesome eye lid primer. If you line you eyes with liner
