I've been trying for years to get rid of mine. I read somewhere that using a lotion with Alpha Hydroxy Acid will help. Then again, I've also read that we're just SOL, so who knows.

My favorite lotions are Johnson and Johnson 24 Hour Moisture. It really does make my skin just about as soft as possible. I totally hate the smell, but I have found in the winter that Gold Bond Medicated Lotion is great when my skin is a little more itchy than usual.

You should definitely try AmLactin cream! I read great reviews of it on drugstore.com for helping with KP, so I decided to give it a try. It's a 12% lactic acid formula, so it really helps to smooth out those little bumps. If you apply it to the area every day (or twice daily if you're dedicated), I think you would really see a difference. I also use it on my feet to help soften them, and it really does the trick! After about a week of use, I noticed a huge difference in the texture and softness of my feet.
I haven't seen it sold in a physical store, so I just continue to purchase mine from drugstore.com. It's definitely worth the $12.99!

The Olay Age Perfect body wash helps a little with the bumpiness.

Whoops, I meant Dove, not Olay! I get them confused for some reason.

I do not have this but my fiance has it. He is really embarrassed about it. He has tried several remedies. The only thing that has worked for him is the Kerol pads & a good coco butter based lotion. One with a high content of coco. The pads alone help his problem ALOT. To the point where they are non existent

I have had KP for at least 45 years, only on the outside of my arms, mostly the upper arm. To control it, I scrub where I have it a couple of times a week with either Dermadoctor KP scrub:

http://www.dermadoctor.com/product.asp?productID=1576&WID=%7B11D8D51B%2DBCB2%2D4781%2D93D7%2D9A7D8F298B67%7D

or MD Formulations Face and Body Scrub:

I always shower with something moisturizing and sulfite free because that seems to be drying. I've been using Dove Sensitive Skin Body Wash for years.

Lately, I have been alternating with Boscia Jujube Rejuvenist Amino Body Wash. It's expensive but smells good and is very gentle:

Before I put on my regular body moisturizer, I apply an AHA product to the affected areas. This one is discontinued, but I bought a ton: MD Forte Rejuvenating Body Lotion. It will stain white or light clothing even if you wait an hour, but I use it when I am wearing a dark color with no problems. It's worth it as it has Vitamin A and a high concentration of glycolic acid. When I eventually use up my stash, I will try their Hand and Body Lotion which I used years ago. Not as good as the Rejuvenating, if I remember, but it is white and doesn't stain:

I alternate this with KP Duty Moisturizing Therapy:

I have also read that prescription Vitamin A products help, but they are kind of expensive for KP, unless they can be presribed as a medical, rather than a cosmetic need.

For a regular moisturizer, I like Kiehl's Creme de Corp in colder weather:

and DML Lotion in warmer weather:

Hope this helps.

I just wanted to share something I found out about from someone else with KP and have been using: Weleda's Sea Buckthorn Body Oil. It has made the bumps go way down and the skin a LOT softer and smoother. It hasn't completely gotten rid of everything, of course. I've been using it 2-3 weeks only. I highly recommend it!
