If you go get Mystic Tan, definitely give yourself a good scrub down beforehand. If you're not fully exfoliated, it can end up splotchy.

Thanks for the 411 on that! I don't need to be splotchy leopard again.

I am 50% IRISH (yes, the best holiday of the year is just around the corner!), and my skin pale -- and gets freckled when I get into the sun. I have used several self tanners but have found 2 which have been awesome:

I was about to blog it today! http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/gp/product/B0011UOS7O/?ext_id=talktothetan9 I was going to do the same thing this summer. White is the new pale and all the jazz. Hopefully that is true.

I also love St. Tropez's tanning products, although I think they are a bit on the pricey side and you can probably find just as good of a product at the drugstore.

Hey, I'm really curious about the Banana Boat stuff also! I recently found the Victoria's Secret brand one (the instant tan with bronzer, not the gradual--sorry I forget the name! Bare Bronze, maybe?) and I really like it, but it's almost twice as much as the Banana Boat.

Makeup_Addict wrote: Jergens now makes a "Glow Express" moisturizer similar to the original, except that it's supposed to take only three days to develop deeper color, instead of a week. I like using a gradual tanner better than a regular self-tanner, since it's so much easier to avoid splotching or streaking. For me, it's worth it to have to apply it over the course of a few days in order to avoid looking all uneven!
I don't have the patience for the Jergens get-a-little-tan-every-day stuff... It takes like a week (tho it seems to deliver nice color once it finally gets there).

I think I've used every self-tanner there is including the pricey Glow Fusion brand. I think the St. Tropez is the best out there. I used it for the first time this year today and look like I just got back from the beach. The key to the St. Tropez is to exfoliate and moisturize before applying. I don't use their exfoliator or moisturizer, just whatever is good that I have at home. The color is the most natural and because it goes on dark, you get extra color and don't streak. This is the only product I've used that doesn't turn orange. Look for this on eBay, you can usually save a few bucks there.

My favorite NATURAL-LOOKING self tanning system is St. Tropez. It comes with an exfoliator, moisturizer and tanning lotion in the kit but you can also just buy the self-tanning lotion on its own.

Oh wow - I didn't take the time to read this before I posted ... you're right - St. Tropez is the best!
