What if ANY moisturizers do you recommend for oily acne prone skin?
Should a person use a moisturizer if they have this skin type?

Yes, you should still be moisturising as cleansing and toning can still take out vital oils and make your skin worse.

Saying that, I use my moisturiser very sparingly for this reason. Use one with tea tree, witch hazel or seaweed in it. I use Clinique, which is very effective, but failing that, Body Shop is good.

I agree, definately need to use a moisturizer. I made that mistake for so many years, but since I've been moisturizing regularly my acne has became better. I agree that the Clinique 3-step, along with their moisturizers are awesome. I can't even describe how much my skin has improved since I started using it religiously.

There are also some moisturizers out there that also have salcyllic acid in them, so not only do they moisturize, but they also help treat acne as well. I know clean and clear makes one that I used for awhile.

Also, if you have oily skin, make sure you don't overdose on powder. Sure it will mattify your face for awhile, but it will make your acne worse. Get some of the oil absorbing sheets (any brand), hell I've even heard that the disposable toilet seat covers work, to blot up oil. I go through several sheets a day, but it keeps me from breaking out.

Definitely! I really like Neutrogena's Oil Free Moisturizer, but any good oil-free moisturizer will work. You just have to watch the ones that could possibly contribute to clogged pores. Most moisturizers these days don't, but keep an eye out.

Thanks so much I have never used a moisturizer. I just thought since my skin was soooooo oily it would only make my acne worse. I recenty purchased neutrogena oil free moisturizer. I am going to give it a try it.

I have the combination problem - super oily t-zone, with normal cheeks. I'm currently using the Biotherm Acnopur line which I really like, and they have an awesome moisturizer for oily and acne prone skin that is great as a make-up base because it tightens your pores, but it also serves as a treatment you can reapply throughout the day. I use their Aquasource non-stop moisturizer on my cheeks and for bed-time (best time to moisturize!) and in the winter.

It is important to keep your skin hydrated. If you don't mositurize you will actually produce more oil.

I have oily, acne prone skin as well and the best thing I have found is Cosmedicine Medi Matte Oil Control lotion. It leaves your skin hydrated but absorbs oil while leaving a nice, matte finish. It also has SPF 20 and makes an excellent primer. It is well worth the $42.

I've been testing Clean and Clear's Moisturizer with salicylic acid in it, and so far it's been fantastic. And the price is certainly right as well.

Yes, definitely moisturize.

I've found a wonderful organic skincare company that has just released it's normal/oily Spring/Summer line and it is to die for! I love it - and I have combo norm-oily skin. it contains tea tree and other lovely natural and organic ingredients specifically relevant to our skin types.

If you google Perianne Skincare you can find the website to learn more. It's really THAT good!

I do like the Clinique 3-step, the gel moisturizer is great. I know some people think that the toner strips your skin but I need the extra exfoliation due to oily skin. I also love Ultra-Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew by DDF but it does not have an SPF. If you are acne prone, battling spots you dedinitely need an SPF. It took me years to learn this and I've battled with acne all my life.
