In my opinion, I went from in high school using drug store brand s/c to in college using salon s/c, I can 100% tell you that salon s/c's work 10x better than drug store. I can tell that ever since using salon brand s/c my hair looks and feels better, isn't so dried out and much sleeker after straightening. Sometimes I still buy drug store brands to give them a shot, but after about 2 weeks, my hair starts to feel gross using them. I've used Vive Pro Glossing S/C, Sunsilk Hydra and Herbal Essence Breaks Over. Out of all three drug store brands, HE's Breaks Over is probably my favorite, but I wouldn't stop buying Salon s/c's over drug store.

I have normal/dry hair and (unfortunately, I have well water), and I use Matrix Sleek.look (in the orange bottles). I love the shampoo and conditioner! It makes my hair so soft! I also have the smoothing creme and iron smoother. I usually get these products at JCPenney's when they are on sale. This stuff is definately worth the price!

There really is a difference. The low end products just put whats like a wax coating over your hair which fills in the cuticle and makes your hair feel soft but its not a long term help its more like a temporary fix. Which does harm to your hair with all the build up on it. I have used many high end products also just make sure you dont use anything with too much protein or moisture if you dont need it . It can do the reverse effect if too much is used. Hope this helps!!!

Oh and only buy your products from a salon . If you get it at target or grocery store or anything like that it is not from the company .So you dont know if anything is wrong with it or if its really even the real thing and its not guaranteed. If you read on the back of most high end hair products it say not guaranteed unless purchased from a salon or something like that.

To be honest, I think it depends on the brand. The major salon brands own most of the drugstore brands or formulate them. And while they are not the same-- they do contain similar ingredients, although not the same quality. There are a lot of "fillers" in drugstore brands-- lots of water, alcohols, sulfates, fragrances, and paraffins. While I think most salon brands are higher in premium ingredient quantity, your hair and your budget will tell you what it needs.

It's really a personal prefrence, but most the people I know only trust the drugstore brands...If they only knew how much better they're hair could be by simply changing the products they use.

I've used both high end and drugstore brands over the years, and I'll say that it really depends on the brands. I've found some great drugstore finds like Organix or Pantene's deep treatment mask. While, I've also used a lot of salon brands. Some of the salon (high end) brands have also proved to be a failure and/or waste of money. Many of the ingredients are the same its just the quantity of the ingredients present in the formula that makes a difference. Keep in mind though that Drugstore brands range from $1 suave to $8 John Frieda. A lot of high end brands are making companies A LOT of money if you believe that it makes a difference. Stylists make money too selling you those products in their salon. I say don't discriminate just bc its in the drugstore, you have just as much chance of it working as a salon product!

THe best way of knowing what is good is reading the ingredients. If you investigate what they mean and what they are you can find a good product by ingredietns. I know I always dont do that because I hate reading it. I have my choices of name brands and store brand and I feel they work good but what I hate is my hair gets use to it and than I need to switch again.

I am all about the drugstore. Though my hair's been dyed one too many times, naturally it's very thick and silky. The only drugstore brand I ever had trouble with is Suave, which gave me flakes. I usually stick to Tresemme or Garnier. Tresemme is the better of the two, but I love the way Garnier smells. My hair is soft, clean, shiny, and even though I haven't trimmed it in over a year, I haven't got a single split end.
