(I started this topic)

Hello,

I'm a new total beauty member and I am just looking for other members to share tips, advice, and review what products are good and bad for both of us.

I have suffered from acne since I was 15 and I am now in my early 20's. I still get minor break outs, but they are not as bad as they were before, and sometimes I switch products because some products break me out. I now have some acne scars that are starting to fade, but I still get several pimples around my cheeks and chin. I have gone to a dermatologist and have been prescribed many medications including Differin.

My main concern right now is to fade my acne scars, prevent break outs, and sun damage on my face. I have been told I have delicate skin and that I need to start taking care of it.

I am now here looking for others like I who have the same problems and other members to help me out with tips and advice on what products are recommended. I am also here to help others as well.

I am also here for beauty tips and advice on hair and make-up products.

I would appreciate your help and honesty. Thank you.

Hi CynG -

Welcome aboard. I'm a new member also and still break out from time to time. (And I'm a bit older than you.) I have been using a combination of Proactiv and rubbing alcohol on my face with some good results. Once my breakout subsides, I go back to using my Oil of Olay skin care products. But everybody is different. You might want to talk to a dermotologist to discuss your scars.

Talk to you soon.

Jenny :)

Hi CynG,

Welcome aboard. For your acne, I would suggest to eat cucumbers as your snack daily. Alternatively, liquefy a peeled cucumber in a blender and apply the juice to the acne. Another variation of this remedy is to drink four or five cups of cucumber juice daily for a week. This is said to purify the blood and lymphatic system, resulting in a clearer skin.

Real testimony: My best friend had severe acne covered all over her face. She ate cucumbers for a month and her face has never been clearer than now.

In order to prevent breakouts, you should realize why pimples appear on your face.
1. Accumulated dirt, wastes and impurities on or in your pores (clogged pores)
2. #1 results in excess sebum secretion
3. Skin troubles occur

Prevention:
1. Deep cleansing (exfoliating your face) once a week (twice max)
2. Double cleansing daily (esp. if you put makeup) in order to maintain your face clean
3. Additional skin care (i.e. facial masks, homemade facial masks etc)

Hey Cyn!
What type of makeup are you using?
Skin care is very important, and getting rid of deep down dirt and oils trapping the dirt. However, doing so tends to strip your skin of the needed oils. Your skin will respond by making even more oil, hence causing more breakouts. I've seen this over an over again with my family and friends. I use the Sophyto moisturizer now and LA Minerals cosmetics and my oil/pimple prone skin is now perfectly clear;)

Moisturizer: most have water as their first and most prominent ingredient. Look for one that is Aloe based and has Jojoba oil in it. Jojoba most closely resemble human oil and therefore "tricks" your skin into not making more oil.

Makeup: creams, mousses and liquids suffocate and clog your pores. Mineral makeup with bismuth oxychloride will also break you out. Took me forever to find one without bismuth!!! I use the Hollywood and Valley Girl formulas from LA Minerals. Love them both. Also use their oil control powder and concealer, and bronzer, and veil...OK...so I use it all. I'm a makeup addict. need a 12 step program.

You can get samples for like $2 on their website and they'll ship your first order free if you use the code on the site. http://www.laminerals.com

Hi everyone. I am new here and looking for friends. I also have acne scars and my skin is wrinkling. My mom says to put lotion on my face but when I sweat it just practically slides off. So, I have not found the right lotion obviously. I wish I could get a fess make-over so I could get an idea of what products I really need.

Hi!!
Im a new member too here at total! I don't know if you are using it already or not but you should definately try a mineral make up brand-there are so many out there now to choose from and these would definately benefit your skin!

From my research, most mineral make-ups are non-comedongenic so they let your skin breath so would be ideal for anceic skin.

Let us know if you try any and what you think because iv been looking into minerals but haven't actually tried any yet!!

All the best, NatNat

Hi and Welcome!!

I hate to sound like a broken record but you really should check out the Wonderbar. It is fairly new to the US and it is natural so you don't have to put harsh chemicals on your face which alot of people have suggested. I used to have the occasional breakout, but now that is a rarity and have heard and read stories of it really doing a job on acne. I have read alot of reviews here on totalbeauty so you can read them too. I got mine at www.wonderfulwonderbar.com, which also has a bunch of testimonials. I think you can only buy it online but I might be wrong.

the website for wonderbar is www.wonderbarusa.com and they have a blog and testimonials. It detoxes and heals your skin and fights wrinkles, brown spots, large pores, acne, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, dryness, oiliness, on and on. my husband shaves with it and now he doesn't get razor burn. at first. your skin might feel dry, but eventually, dry skin becomes less dry and oily skin becomes less oily. the bar is on totalbeauty and has a ton of great reviews.

Hello total beauty,

I am new! just want to feel like a lady again. I am a mommy and very short on time and especially cash. I hate to feel like a homely looking washed up mom. There is this diva in me that loves to put on makeup and that makes me feel femine if yet sexy too. After all I know I'm not in my 20's,33 years old.
So I am just wanting to stay young and youthful. Not wear the old, dull, tired look I have been staring at in the mirror. I say to myself "what happened?"....but the answer is lack of sleep, lack of time, lack of funds....these things will do it! That is my explanation.
We all have flaws...I guess we all do even if it isn't visible or you just are fortunate enough to pay for beauty. I deal with the way I am,thats the things I like and don't. Honestly, I have to work on my appearance. Not saying I am ugly but I feel I could improve. At least so I can look at a picture of myself and not be embarressed. I used to feel guilty, like I was being vain. But now I wish I would of took more time to treat myself, not beat myself. You have to look at it like this your only young once.

Believe it or not I dream about makeovers, beauty is affecting the sub-conscience.

My issues ,way too many bad hair days.I am very concerned about my hair because I am a "mixed chick",I have the obvious look. My hair is curly and can be dry and frizzy. It isn't really nappy,it does seem to have hair balls, it can look like a poodle living on crack...lol. Wow,did I say that,I am only trying to express how I see it!. Anyway,I am really sick of curly period! When I do blowdry it straight it is one big head of straw like hair.....so I am forced to keep it curly. Did I mention my hairline has bkoke off hair so it sticks up when I pull my hair back. What do I do,my hair is so damaged?
My skin has some blackheads and I do get occasional pimple breakouts, not a pizza face but a few pimples occassionaly on the cheek bones (which my cheeks are high and strong) then my chin gets them,my nose. My pockets aren't flowing so I am interested in less expensive care.
I want bigger, wider eyes....my eyes seem to be beaty and they are rounded.
My forehead seems to have a dent in it,I wonder does anyone have that or know why this is?I see it and it isn't helping since my face shape is oblong. During my time here,I would love to see what I can do with this face shape.
My body....oh here I go! lets just say I need shaping, toning, lifting and firming in the areas that defines womanly shape. I know that sounds like I need exercise.

When I read what I wrote I was like this is messed up!, Well ladies didn't want to complain but we are here for advice, tips and review products as stated.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!,I honestly admitted to my flaws and feel like sites like this is an outlet for these issues. I would appreciate your friendship, your advice, your tips,,e.t.c

My name ain't stella but I want to get my groove back!
