(I started this topic)

I actually like my mascaras to be a little old...they tend to be less gloopy then and easier to apply. It's quite common for me to buy a mascara and then put it away for a while before using it. Never had any problems with eye infections or anything either http://img103.exs.cx/img103/6541/biggrin.gif

So, anyone else?

I guess Vaseline is my "new" weird makeup habit -- and Wonderbalm. I paint it all over my face and body at night.

I probably am guilty of not throwing my mascara away after the recommended three months either. I, too, haven't had an eye infection yet. Knock on wood.

Not as much weird stuff as I used to do. Before my skin got mad at me, I used to have my "quick face". I usually kept some powder foundation and light pink lipstick in my car along with some mascara. I really didn't wake up well in the mornings back then, so I usually did my make up in the parking lot at school. It worked. I got lots of compliments on how fresh and natural it looked. But eventually it made me break out really bad.

And I don't think Vaseline is that odd. My mom has been using vaseline her whole life to remove her eye makeup. That's the only thing we can think of as to why she looks as young as she does (she's been smoking nearly her whole life, but her skin on her face is perfect). She's been told that her skin is like the skin of someone in their 30's, not their mid 50's.

I used to put everything on my hands (like Carmindy) and use a brush to take the concealer or cream blush, etc... of and the apply it to my face. It was a messy waste so I stopped.

Oh, and I move my eyelash curler up my lashline as I curl them. Probably not that weird though.

I don't know if this is classed as "weird" or just economical, but I find that a good hand cream (I find Neutrogena Norwegian Formula is excellent) doubles up as a great neck and foot cream. I also apply my eye cream between my eyebrows and on my lip line, as these areas are prome to wrinkles too!
Another thing I love to try : layer differing transluscent/sparkly nail polishes over one another! You'll end up with gorgeous shades that are yours only.

Hey I love the idea of layered nail colours!

I don't know if this is weird but it works! =D I apply lip gloss on my cheeks in a circular motion for a hint of colour and glow. it's a great quick fix when on the go and an economic alternative for cheek gels and stains.

weird or not, i use these tips and tricks for a less made up look on the eyes:

this is to be done after applying eye shadow if you're using any.
blot excess mascara off the wand onto a tissue. alot of people apply mascara in straight strokes. the trick is to SQUIGGLE the wand from lashline to lash ends of your top lashes, closing your lids as you go. this will ensure even, no-clump application. i use three coats for the day. you can stick with two or even one, whichever works. if you're going for a night time look, apply another coat to the top lashes and one coat to lower lashes.

next, for day, line INSIDE the eye, along the TOP lash line only. for night, also line along the lower lashline, and inside too if you like. it is very important to only use a pencil or twist up eye liner. DO NOT use the liquid one as it will come off with one blink and create a mess.

One of my "weird" things is that I can not wear only one color eye shadow at a time. I need to mix colors even when I want a natural look. Must go back to the fact that I have an art degree and love to mix colors when I paint. Also, when I am in the shower and before I go to sleep, I plan how to do my hair and makeup for the next day. I usually go by how I feel and what look I am channeling for the day. Lately it's been a 50's look with a twist. My best ideas come when I am in the shower since no one can bother me there and it's peaceful (no kids!)
