I have seriously tried almost every shampoo and conditioner out there that was less than my new fav. Kerastase. There were times when I loved a s/c and they discontinued them, or they changed the formula and it wasn't a good change. I HATE it when companies do this.

It is hard enough to find a good product. I hate that when you finally find a good product and the company changes the formula,

you usually buy a more expensive shampoo or conditioner - BECAUSE IT WORKS. The drugstore store brands try hard, but usually don't have enough product in them to make a difference, or make my hair look good. And unfortunately, I have had to learn this the hard way!

i buy expensive shampoo and cond. because they don't make my scalp itch. my favorite is karestase brand for conditioner. and shampoo doesn't really matter though i stick to kerastase.

Maybe i'm just crazy but when I buy cheaper shampoo and conditioner they never seem to meet all my hair needs. I tried herbal essences shampoo and conditioner for wavy hair and it made my hair soft, but it was still thick and diffcult to manage. I thought about trying herbal essences long term relationship since I have long hair, but I need something that would smooth it down as well as hydrate and repair. The more expensive salon products seem to cater to more of a variety of hair types. I use Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny shampoo and conditioner because it makes me hair more manageable, softer, helps repair the damage, and cuts my blow drying time way down. The Paul Mitchell brand gives me everything I need where other cheaper products may do just half of what I need it to.

i am in love with pureology s&c, but it's so highly concentrated it lasts me a very long time. my backup shampoo is Herbal Essence! It has been great on my color treated hair, and smells so good, so i'm starting to wonder why i keep buying the expensive stuff!

Lush has interesting smells that I have yet to find in drugstore products. I really wish Lush S&C worked for me but they all dry out my hair. I bought some of everything during their big post-holiday sale and my hair felt like straw. It's a shame too because they smell so good and I love the concept of handmade products. You know I used to be in love with Thermasilk but then my hair changed when I started coloring it regularly and the only line I found that worked with my hair texture happened to be a more expensive one (Kenra). If I could find a drugstore line that works, I'd stock up. I keep trying them but don't have any luck. I'm a big fan of Kenra. I haven't tried their s+ c yet but I love their styling products. This coming from someone with fine hair ;) ITA with the Kenra products, I absolutley love the conditioner. The moisturizing conditioner is quite thick and I use it as a deep conditioner which softens my hair really well.

Aveda's shampure isn't too expensive and it works really well. But recently I experimented with the C.O.Bigelow protein s&c from bath and body works and it's really good. It has a great pear scent and you can feel the strength it adds to your hair. It's cheap too, about the same as Aveda's shampure.

For almost 6 years I have used Wayne Grund products, only abailable through my brother in law's salon. Then like a HUGE dork I watched an infomerical. For WEN hair care products.

I buy salon shampoos/conditioners because it seems like it works better in my hair. After years in junior high and high school of using drug store shampoos, and going to college now and buying salon products, I think salon products work better. 1)Keeps my hair cleaner longer, which is good for me considering I flat iron my hair twice a week, 2)Your getting your money's worth (sometimes), 3) Like someone else said, salon products cater to different hair types, whereas drug store products don't necessarily. But I do find myself being hooked on Herbal Essence's breaks over shampoo/conditioner, the smell is off the hook.
