Why Do You Buy Expensive Shampoo/Conditioner?

I've been spending to much on shampoo and conditioner for the past 10 years. There were even times when I was fairly broke but still spending too much on Frederick Fekkai or Bumble and Bumble and then using as little as possible to make it last. Since I have always spent too much on shampoo/conditioner, I feel like using regular stuff just wouldn't be the same even though, practically and logically I know it's all the same at every price. I'd say it's the way it smells but drug store shampoo smells great too.

I used Herbal Essence for a week last year and thought it was great yet I still buy specialty s+c. Why??

Because I am in love with my guy stylist. Just kidding. I swear he makes me look better than I should look so I at least owe him the commission or the kudos.

I buy Lush haircare products because I am obsessed with the way they smell. Lush has interesting smells that I have yet to find in drugstore products.

I really wish Lush S&C worked for me but they all dry out my hair. I bought some of everything during their big post-holiday sale and my hair felt like straw. It's a shame too because they smell so good and I love the concept of handmade products.

You know I used to be in love with Thermasilk but then my hair changed when I started coloring it regularly and the only line I found that worked with my hair texture happened to be a more expensive one (Kenra). If I could find a drugstore line that works, I'd stock up. I keep trying them but don't have any luck.

I'm a big fan of Kenra. I haven't tried their s+ c yet but I love their styling products. This coming from someone with fine hair ;)

Haha, I once had a hair dresser that I had a HUGR crush on and every time I left, in addition to leaving an obscene tip, I'd always walk out with more product than I knew wht to do with. Maybe he started me on my expensive s+c habit!

I just found the best Shamp/Cond at Whole Foods. This little company in NY make it and it's called Earthly Delights. No parabens and about 10 ingredients, all you can pronounce. IF they hadn't recommended it to me I would have passed it by. It's this totally generic, cheesy label that looks homemade and there isn't a website. I called and they said they distribute nation wide. My hair has been shiny and amazing. I've used everything and this was maybe $5-$7 a bottle. I'm in love! Check it out, maybe less chemicals in there make the difference??

I might have to check that out. I'm getting to a point where I want to start seeing fewer chemicals and mystery ingredients in the products that my body is absorbing. Also, I feel kind of bad that al these chemical are draining into the water.

I don't necessarily have to buy expensive shampoo and conditioner, but I usually tend to find that they make my hair better. Frederic Fekkai Shea Butter Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner are both great for my hair, as is Aveda Shampure Shampoo. But my all-time favorite conditioner is actually Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine -- it makes it, well, shinier and sleeker than anything else I've tried! :)

Seriously. I told my stylist that if he wasn't gay, we would have run off together a long time ago!
