Well when I was at the salon today doing my haircut and color the lady said I should not wash my hair every day like I do and that it shold be every other day. She said she washed her hair about 5 days ago and it helps her hair not get damaged or dry. Well for me with fine hair I do have dry hair since I color my hair but if I dont wash my hair one day the roots are oily and it looks ugly. You can see that I did not wash it.

Five days is pretty long to go without washing your hair. I think the longest I can go is four. I don't wash my hair every day, it takes a few before it's noticable, and I'm pretty lazy. I do as little as I can get away with. If I use any products in my hair, I have to wash it sooner than without. I don't get dandruff or too much oil, my scalp just gets itchy and bothers me.

Do you use anythilng on the scalp so it does not look greasy? I know someone told me to use baby powder but not sure yet what to do. I also dont have powder. Guess I would need to buy it too. I just want my hair to be healthy and the expesnive stuff is not helping much either.

I wash mine every other day, but it doesn't look as good on the second day unless I've colored my hair recently. I dye my hair, use a blow dryer and straighten it, so I would end up doing more damage if I washed every day. You can try using a dry shampoo, or make your own ( http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip1172.htm).

I've never used baby powder on my hair. I have fairly dark hair and I'm afraid if I put baby powder in it the residue will stand out like dandruff. If my hair feels too oily and I don't have time to wash it, I use hairspray on my roots. I find it makes my hair look drier, but I always make sure to wash it out later. Using it too many times in a row without washing will cause buildup that turns into flakes.

regardless of anybodys hair condition, even if u work out I dont think a person necessarily needs to wash EverY day lol I think we have natural serum and oil glands on top of our heads for a reason and the hair would probably get dry and damaged from all that product...now I only way I see myself washing my hair everyday if its just to WeT my hair only with water for the sake of styling etc

I shampooed, conditioned then blow dried my hair daily for years to keep my bob looking precise. Lately, I had noticed my hair becoming dry with some damage ( I blamed the colouring ). Now I shampoo every other day and wet and condition only on the other days. My hair has responded beautifully.

Once a week (but I shower daily, lol), or sometimes twice a week, depending if my hair feel really greasy or not. I have really thick course hair and I straighten it after washing my hair so that's part of the reason why I only wash it once a week, but also because it's dry and I was told not to wash your hair every day that's what causes dry scalp and dandruff leading to psorasis.

It's better for me, personally, to wash my hair at least every 3 days. I used to wash it everyday and had such a dry scalp. Now, if i bathe or shower, I just pull my hair up in a bun and avoid getting it wet as that just leaves my hair kinda greasy. I wish there was a way to rinse it without it getting all gross... but I'm fine with my regiment, really.

I don't have this problem since I have low/no oil production. But I heard that others use a boar bristle brush. Detangle first, as BBB's aren't meant for detangleing hair, then run the BBB through hair starting right at the scalp. Boar bristle is supposed to distibute the oils throughout the hair. It will help the roots look not so oily while conditioning the rest with your natural oils.
