I am desperate! Every book I take out is such a snoozer, I put it down after 50 pages. Anything you can recommend would be wonderful!

it isnt something I normally read - but I'm really enjoying Valerie Bertinelli's auto biography! Its really humble, funny - and better yet - a quick read. I love hearing all about van halen - and her days in tv...I was always a fan of both her & VH. :o)

i've been enjoying it so much -i'm thinking about that Tori Spelling book - but I dont know if its as good --- I wonder if anyone here has read it??

OMG, I have such a long list of books for you. I suppose it depends on your taste in books but Amy and Isabel by Elizabeth Strout was awesome and Abide By Me by the same authour was also great. If you're looking for really interesting, albeiy zany plot lines, I'd recommend anything by Douglas Coupland (my fave) and I'd start with either, All Families are Psychotic or Hey! Nostradamus. Autobiography of a Face by Lucy Grealy is great ( about the authour's life after she loses hlf her jaw to bone cancer) and the Truth and Beauty by Ann Patchett (which chronicles the authours life as she was friends with Lucy Grealy in college) both really interesting and quick reads! Hope this helps and one of these appeals to you.

Ditto on the OMG! I am currently reading The Seamtress, A Memoir of Survival. I have been in a book club for years. Tonight is Book Club night and our selection is Love, Eat, and Pray, and I think the consensus is that it was a good education, stretched your mind, but I think the majority didn't love it. Since we have nothing to discuss when we get to book club -- because we already know what everybody thinks about the book -- we usually eat, eat, and drink! One of my fave's this year was Water for Elephants.

I second the Douglas Coupland suggestion.

Keep the suggestions coming guys, I barely have the time to read for pleasure these days and so when all my work's done and I finally have time to I would love to read something that'll give me a good laugh.

I haven't read a book the whole way through for a couple of years. The last book I couldn't tear myself away from was The Kite Runner. I still need to go see the movie!

Elizabeth Strout is awesome! Her writing is beautiful and unpretentious. Although it's a long one, A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry is amazing, if you haven't already read it. You tear through the pages in a few days it's so good.

I read the Life of Pi by Yann Martel recently. It is a great book, I heard they are making a movie on it.
