Does staying in the sun help you gain back freckles, from back in the day?

Freckles are genetic and they are triggered by exposure to sunlight. While most common on fair skin, anyone can get them. I even have them on my lips which has prompted me to look for lip products with sunscreen.

According to Wikipedia, freckles may fade with age-- but will resurface with UV exposure even after treatment.

I have olive skin ans some freckles. My freckles get darker when exposed to sunlight. My freckles are mainly on my shoulders, forearms, nose, and tops of my cheeks.

Like Vicki, my freckles get darker (or appear that way) in the sun, and I read somewhere that freckles are actually a form of sun damage! I did not always have them but got them sometime in the past 15 years. I always use sunscreen on them, and sometimes foundation to make them less noticeable.

They are supposedly skin's reaction to getting more sun than it can handle. I have them on my cheeks. I cringe when I think how I used to lie in the sun & bake, like roasting a chicken! LOL This was in the 1970's, when everyone sunbathed, and there was no talk/awareness of skin cancer and what people were doing to their poor skin! :-(

I think some people look good with freckles, in spite of what causes them. But I don't like them on me. :-(
