I have tried the La Praire foundation and found that it's not worth the $$ even if the concealer comes in the cap. Thank goodness, I had a sample and did not buy the product. As for BE, they have way too much crushed pearl in their foundation colors which gives a person a chalky look. As most people, I pawned it off on my niece who loves it. Maybelline mascara sucks! I go for Prescriptives and Lancome mascara over anything else. Every skin is different so what works on me might not work on others that's why cosmetic counter have samples. If you become friends with a beauty consultant, cultivate that friendship cause you never know what goodies may come of it. Trust me I know!

I was really sad to discover that I HATE Philosophy's Hope in a Jar! It did nothing for my parched skin and has a stinky smell like sweaty socks! I got the 2 oz jar which is way over priced and because I had to slap on so much it disappeared quickly! I'm glad it's done now - I gave it a fair run 2 months.

Agree about some of Benefit's products. Love the packaging but so not convenient or functional. I am a fan of Hoola, Lip Plump (not for the plumping effect but it's an awesome primer) and Dandelion (for my fair skinned clients), but hate that most of their products only suit fair-med skin tones. Glosses textures are great but too sheer for me. I'm sorry but the eye brightner does not work! It looks so chalky on my skin.

Love Stila shadows and tinted moisturizer but they are a little pricey. Stila Lip Glaze lovers don't hate me but I hate their glosses. Not sticky but I find they're too sheer and run out so quickly. sorry!

Maybelline Great Lash is over hyped and is great for someone that wants natural lashes but it smudges and runs like crazy! Ugh! Hated it!

AMEN! Finally someone who agrees that Hope is Jar is a bunch of BS. It smells naty and didn't do jack crap for my skin. Perricone Age Correct - Restorative Night Treatment is way better. I got a small sample and my skin has never looked better! I just spent $100 for a full jar.

Another line I think is over hyped is La mer, this didn't do anything for my skin but make me breakout and feel I was wearing a mask.

I think Bare Escentuals is OVERRATTED! I have been using it for almost a year and just recently decided to stop. My skin has never looked worse and is breaking out like crazy. Nothing else in my beauty regimen has changed, so I know my issue are linked to Bare Escentuals. I know it's "all natural" and they claim it's good for your skin, but I disagree. Does anyone have any recommendations for "gentle" (I have sensitive skin) make up that they have been happy with?

I have an e-boutique, www.moiskincare.com. Email me, elizabeth@moiskincare.com with your skin type and specifics about your sensitivities and I would be more than glad to send you some free samples! :-)

I've been a salve to Bare Essentials for a few years not and I just kicked my habit. A friend told me about MAC and their mineral makeup and I love it. It's not as dry as Bare Essentials and it does not make you look like your face it covered in powder. It's smoother and finer and so far I like it.

I have to say I think the Laura Geller products suck. I was up late one night channel surfing and got pulled into a presentation on QVC. Now I am a product junkie so I watch and was amazed at how great the models skin looked. It was awake and bright and beautiful and it didn't have that sparkly look that some bronzers or illuminators have. So the next day I trotted down to my local Sephora to but the Bronze - N – Brighten and the Balance - N – Brighten. I hated them both, they clogged my pores, make my face shimmer like I just attached it some glitter and it felt like a mask. I only tried the one but I didn’t want to relive the product so I took’em both right back to Sephora to get my money back.

Mineral make-up!!! They claim it to be "better for your skin than traditional make-up", but give me "traditional" anyday. Only mineral make up I tried was Jane Iredale's Liquid Minerals foundation. It was a waste of $50 and turned me off to mineral makeup since. It made my fine lines more noticeable and did not go on smoothly. I told my hairdresser/cosmetologist about it, and she said that's what mineral make up does: Ball up, emphasize lines, go on thick & heavy. She's even heard from many much younger women who do not liek it either.

I also don't understand the hype regarding Maybelline's Great Lash Mascara, which is labeled a "winner" that has stood the test of time. I think it's crap. I wrote a separate review on this "great" mascara. Should call it "Maybelline Gross Crap Lash Mascara."

MAC MAC MAC MAC

It is hyped up all over the place and it isn't not the best like everyone thinks. They release a new collection several times a month that have colors that are almost exactly the same as other colors they already have out! I mean, come on! It is $14.50 for ONE eye shadow....that means you are paying close to $60 for a quad...4 eye colors! You can get an eye quad from Lancome for $40 or better yet, you can get an 8-color palette from Wet n Wild for about $5-$6....and YES the quality is the same. I have used both high end and drugstore and give me my drugstore items ANY day. I get better results for much less money. Too many females are hung up on "omg I HAVE to have MAC". They need to get over it and come back to reality.

LOL - this post is so funny, I love it! Finally girls are telling it like it is. :)

I definitely discovered that some certain Stila products are quite overrated - ahem - I won't say which ones at the moment, but their Lip Glaze left me wondering why everyone goes crazy over it.

My sentiments exactly, even though I have never tried MAC. Yes, drugstore brands have just as much quality, maybe better, than department store/salon brands.

I love your post.

I can name a few:

MAC is one. Yes, their products are pricey. Their eyeshadows DO fade and cause problems, despite what everyone else says.

Smashbox. Their lipgloss is HORRIBLE. It's over-priced, grainy, lasts for 2 seconds, waxy, and downright bad. Paying $22 for that crap! Covergirl wetslicks is better than that stuff.

Stila. I mean, come on! You're paying $18 for a thin little cake of eyeshadow that's a Mark rip-off. You can't carry the single cake of eyeshadow by itself in your purse without it crumbling, so you have to pay 2 more dollars to get a SINGLE pan compact. So, now you spent $20 for 2 products. You want at least two of the pretty shades so you have to piddle $40 to get them! With four shades, it's $80, including separate compacts. The grand offense? The shadow is mediocre at best. You have to put over half a dozen layers in order for the pigment to show up, only to find out that some of the colors are dirty. Very horrible.

Urban Decay. Many of UD's shades are unwearable. Some of the shades' shadows and glosses are so outlandish that even if you wear them in a parade or to a nightclub it looks garish. Seriously, the "Steal Our Looks" page has bizarre--not to mention borderline trashy and drag queen--complete looks, and you'll see there and then that many products are tacky and completely tasteless. To buy the look requires at least $100. And a lot of the products are overpriced. No offense to Urban Decay lovers out there; I do like their Primer Potion and some neutral eyeshadows and glosses. But the rest are bizarre, especially if you cake it on your face.

Worst of all, MINERAL MAKEUP. It's overpriced for being an unhealthy product. Mineral veils and foundations settle onto your skin and accentuate wrinkles. It also clogs your pores, causing some people to break out. And some ingredients, despite being natural, are bad for your skin. Corn starch and other products dry out your skin. Bismuth oxide (I think that's what it is; correct me if I'm wrong) can cause severe allergic reactions, as well as other ingredients. You're paying $20+ for an unhealthy rip-off.
