For dry-skinned ladies like myself, La Mer is amazing. I couldn't imagine using it if I didn't have parched skin though. It is very rich. It really is the only thing that has helped my skin! As far as Benefit goes, I love dandelion. It is very subtle on my skin, but makes it look a little more alive! And it smells so fresh. I also like Benefit My Glossiness but I usually like most lip glosses in one way or another! I think MAC foundations are awful, as well as Bare Minerals makeup. Does not work for my dry skin. With both of those, I couldn't find a color for my skin! Basically just yellow based and light!

^ I agree about the MAC foundations, I thought I was the only one. I have yet to find a MAC foundation that I like, though I haven't tried the Studio Fix Fluid everyone raves about.

I do pretty well with MAC foundations, as long as I don't wear them daily. If I do, I start getting little breakouts. All but Studio Fix Fluid - that one works well for me with no breakouts so far.

I could not live without MAC Foundations. I have four shades of Studio Fix that I use as a powder in the winter, as a foundation in the Summer. I like the Studio Fix fluid for a long day of wear. The Moistureblend is great for overly dry days in the Winter and has great coverage. Face and Body is amazing when my face is looking pretty nice on it's own. It looks like skin, but only better. My favorite is probably Studio Mist. It is so versatile with how you apply it depending on sponge, brush, fingers. It is amazing and is so buildable!

I have tried Bare Escentuals more than once, and keep wanting it to work for me. But it makes me itchy and it gets me a little bumpy. And I never get bumpy. The colors take too much work to blend and it never looked natural on me.

Yay for MAC, Nay for BE.

I had that itchy/bumpy problem too with BE! Is it the SPF in it? Or is it the minerals? God, I wanted to tear my face off when I first tried it! I couldn't stop itching it!

Love Keihl's. For my dry skin friends, they have a "cold cream" type cleanser called Brightening Botanical Cleansing Cream that is inexpensive, too.

The jury is still out for me on La Mer. Honestly, I know you can read in Paula Begoun's book, Don't Go To The Cosmetic Counter Without Me, that La Mer is all hype, but the cream and the serum that I used made my dry skin feel luxurious. Knowing how much the products cost, it was probably a placebo effect. Hey, whatever works.

It's probably the bismuth. Lots of people have that reaction to it. You might want to do some research - I know there are mineral products out there without bismuth, so you may like those better.

Joppa minerals (that I mentioned in the foundation thread) don't have bismuth and are pretty inexpensive, so you might want to look into them.

Hmm, I agree about BE. My mother and I both tried it, and didn't care for anything except the mineral veil. Aside from being difficult to use, the results for us were an awful enlarged-pores, caked-on look. Even when I had someone at Sephora help me try the stuff on, I thought it looked about the same. Ew. I'm glad I stop myself from buying their stuff. :(

Smashbox and Stila both seem a little overrated to me, too; I've never seen anything from Stila that has seriously caught my interested...

I hate to say it but I feel the Benefit products are over-rated too. I loved Dr Feelgood for awhile, then it just felt too heavy in the warm weather. The tint was great when I was younger, not so much now. And this "foundation faker" I tried a few months ago(because so many people hyped it up!)was a total bust! I guess I'm just a sucker for the product packaging. Oh well.
