I agree..I am mostly cheap but not too cheap on skincare..I use Clinique Comforting Cream Cleanser which is $17.50 which is not a lot but the tube does not last long and I only use it at night..I use Oil of Olay Nutrients moisturizer which works great for me and that is $12 at the grocery store...it has great ingredients! I use two eye creams which go a long way ( I have allergies and hereditary puffy eyes) which total $40 but they last a long time. But I also use two hair products, only Burts Bees body powder, perfume, deodarant, and I use Loreal Shampoo, and Oil of Olay body wash, and natural soap for washing my hands, and 3 different kinds of toothpaste etc...so everything adds up..so I really really look for value and purity. I had suggested this in another response but I will type it again...if you are interested in ingredients and what is good and bad for you and you can then make an educated decision please check out cosmeticsdatabase.com. It has over 25,000 cosmetic products for you to check out including ingredients. I have tried many, and many were organic and they do not work for me...too many fruits and such are used and I am allergic, but it has helped me with a lot of other products that I can buy at the drugstore or grocery store and they work well and cost only a little...:)

It depends on the actual product and demand for it (or how much I want it, hahaha). I usually spend a little more on skincare, as opposed to cosmetics, however; there are exceptions to just about any rule. There are so many amazing cosmetic brands in the world today, I just feel like I wanna try so many, as opposed to just sticking with one all of the time. Most of my cosmetics are Lancome, however; I have tried quite a few that range from Dior, Chanel, Bobbi Brown, and Anna Sui to Hotwax, MAC, Urban Decay, and Hard Candy to Rimmel, E.L.F., NY & Co, and Wet-n-Wild, and more. It depends solely on the product.

I have wondered the exact same thing- if the less expensive are just as good as the more expensive. As far as what you should spend more on, that may just depend on what is most important to you, I think. I personally spend more for moisturizer, foundation, powder, and lip colors. I always wear neutral shades of eyeshadow, so I feel comfortable buying a less expensive version if I don't happen to have a "gift freebie" with a more expensive brand. I recently found a Cover Girl blush that I love as well.

in my younger days, i was devoted to clinique and bought EVERYTHING from them. Even mascara. But i will boast that my lashes are one of my best features and don't need anything really special as far as mascara goes so i finally started buying drug-store mascara for $5-$9 bucks instead of Clinique's for $12-$16.

Since they say you're suppose to change mascara every three months (but I admit don't always do that) I try to find a good drugstore one. I think the most I've ever spent on mascara is $7. I don't splurge alot since I'm on a budget, but if I'm able to I splurge on eyeshadow and lip gloss.

Mascara - I find the drugstore ones consistently just as good as department store ones (Maybelline is my fave).

I Splurge on almost everything. It depends on how much money I have to spend. I never splurge on eyeliner, though. I buy whatever my friends say is the best, no matter the price.
