Please please help me!?! I’m someone with light skin that has yellow undertones. For years I’ve had acne and acne scarring, because of this I wear heavy full coverage makeup...I’ve no confidence without it. However I’ve been to a number of events lately where I’ve had my picture taken and I was horrified to discover I look ghostly white (I mean gothic white) in them....
I don’t understand this because I wear a bronzer and blush, and when I look in the mirror I look healthy and glowing..its only when I get my photo taken that I look like Mortisa Adams sister!!
Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to fix it (and fast! Christmas time is coming=parties=pictures!!!)

I used to have that problem when I was younger and had to wear more foundation to cover up blemishes. What I used to do was after I applied my foundation I would take a damp towel or sponge and blot my cheekbones (I typically had acne on my lower cheeks & chin). Then I would apply my blush. I used Tarte Flush gel tint which would leave really good color but was still very sheer. I'm 34 now and I still use Tarte Flush because I like how it isn't powdery or cakey, and it doesn't adhere to blemishes like powder blush does.

Try and get some samples of other foundations. Many times an ingredient in foundation will make you look washed out in pictures. I know that MakeUp Forever's foundations are very good especially when you are taking photos (many artists will use it for shoots or bridal looks).

Several things can cause this: foundation shade being a bit too light, wearing a foundation that has either a high titanium dioxide or zinc oxide count, or even having a picture taken too close up.

When it comes to pictures, I don't care to take them inside because you can never really get the lighting right. So, I much prefer to take picture outside where there is good old fashion natural lighting going on. Also, whether I take pictures outside or not, I don't opt for up close shots anymore. As, I try to make sure that my picture is taken a reasonable distance away from the camera. And, whatever foundation that I wear now, it must be an exact match. Because, even if you wear a foundation that is slightly too light and then cover it up with a bit of bronzer, your base color will still be evident.

I agree with Reservechic. Titanium Dioxide and Zinc do cause a white appearance in photos, so does talc which is in many pressed powders. I either choose a talc-free mineral makeup or use Make Up For Ever liquid foundations, they are pretty flawless.

thanks for the advice guys, I checked the ingredent list of my products and they all contain titanium dioxide! I use mineral makeup, and as far as I can tell most, if not all mineral makeup contains it....maybe I should look into a new foundation for the christmas season!!

Here is another bit of advice for you - when picking out a new foundation, always check it in natural light (outside). The store lighting is awful when trying to match a foundation since most of them give off a blue cast to everything. Also, ask for a sample if you are in a department store and you can do test shots with this to see if you are getting the results you want.

make up forever has their HD line, which supposedly is used for actors stuck under bright lights and hd cameras to hide blemishes etc, but still contain titanium dioxide.
but bobbi brown oil free even finish does not contain titanium dioxide so no uva protection.
