I learned my lesson regarding layers and a perm. When I was a freshman in college, a lady who my sister went to, cut and permed my hair. It was supposed to look like Cher's curly hair but it turned out like a poodle doo! I hated it and the worst thing was that my other sister was getting married and I was in the wedding. Thank goodness for a good blow out and curling iron which was the only way that I looked decent for her big day. It took four years to grow out the layers which looked like steps as they grew out. It is for that reason that I do NOT like layers and refuse to get them cut into my long hair.

My other disaster was letting a relative of my then boyfriend cut my hair. She did a nice cut but when I braided it, one side was longer than the other. That took a while to fix since the difference was over 2 inches on one side.

My latest disaster was letting the salon manager dye my hair and dry it. She did a good job coloring but but sucked at the blow out. It was so flat and lifeless that I'll never go back to her again. I now dye it myself with the help of my husband - he does the rinsing for me.
