I'd been coloring my hair blonde for 6 months (shouldn't have done it in the first place) and decided to go back to my natural shade without the help of a pro. Isn't that always when the problems occur? I chose a box dye that was too dark, my hair grabbed all the color and turned a lifeless black. I spent 8 hours at the salon the next day having the color stripped leaving my hair purple. After applying color I was finally at a reddish brown, close enough to my natural shade. I didn't color my hair again for over 5 years. Oh no! That must have been expensive and left your air dry. I've also learned the hard way to leave colour to the pros.

(Not John Robert's, Michelle!) My stylist, who was actually the owner, had a REALLY off day and cut my hair into an awkward, uneven 'do that a) I didn't really notice until I got home because of how he blew it out, and b) didn't grow out correctly for about a year. I walked around with uneven hair that stuck out in a million directions, it was terrible! 2) About a year ago, I went to a salon in NYC to get a trim. A TRIM. The person ended up cutting these strange layers in my hair, which I didn't ask for (and again didn't even know about until later because they had me turned away from the mirror with my head down). I looked up at the end and was HORRIFIED. I then went to another salon in NYC to get it "fixed," and all that place did was make the layers more choppy and uneven and more horrible! This was when I decided never to cheat on my stylist in Cleveland again. I went to her about a month later, sat down in the chair and heard her say, "Umm ... what happened?" I felt so terrible that I promised her on the spot never to have anyone else cut my hair -- even if it meant waiting a year between cuts! :) I have never trusted ppl that are overly good at blow outs. I have a friend who became a hair dresser and he admitted that he's so good at heat styling bc he knows his cuts blow. Also, don't you hate whe you get a horrible cut? I never say anything and them have to go to someone else, and pay to have someoen else's mistake fixed. I wish I had ebough nerve to say something before leaving. But at that point, I don't really want the same hair dresser cutting more off to correct their hack job. I also "cheated" on a regular hair dresser when I was desperate to get my hair done and couldn't get an appt with my regular guy. Wound up with the worst and ridiculously short hair. I felt so Shamed that when I went back to my regular guy, I had to make up an excuse about how I was oart of a wedding party and they insisted everyone have their hair done by the same hair dresser. It was so lame and I'm sure he knew. Well, that taught me to never "cheat"again.

A few years ago I put dark red streaks in my hair(I'm pretty light blonde). I put way to many in and it looked bad so I bleached some of the peices and they turned neon orange. It also damaged my hair so bad.

I think I was starting the 6th grade and I had long, really poofy hair. I went with my aunt to the hairdressers and saw a picture of this really cute short do. I ended up getting it, only to realize after getting it cut, did it look AWFUL on me and didn't turn out at all how I wanted it to. My hair was probably only an inch or two. I waited so long for it to grow out and I didn't have a good hair day all year.

ugh, i went to a salon and wanted to add some reddish tones to my brown hair. the hairstylist put a plum color glaze in my hair. that was fine... except i guess it was not supposed to be applied to the scalp and I had a RED SCALP when she was done !! I began to cry. she had 3 people using alcohol scrubbing my scalp tryng to get the color out. I had a red scalp for a week. and i had to go to WORK like that. BUt the worst part..... they made me PAY for it. I was so upset i didnt want to argue. i just wanted to get out of there. by the way... it was a JC Penny Salon. NEVER went back !!!!

In high school i wanted highlights soo bad and my Mom didn't want to pay $120 to get my hair done, I had really long hair down to my waist, so I went to Sally's and bought a hight lighting cap and a crochet needle and went to town pulling my long hair though the holes ( it took like 2 hours) . So i got really excited when I saw my hair lightening up But it didnt get as light as I wanted it so I put some more on and it got pretty blonde ! I invisioned myself looking like Daisy Fuentes ( she hosted Americas funniest Home Videos at the time) So I washed my hair with the cap on and when I went to pull it off ...I swear to you half my hair went with it!!! It was sooo bad !! There were chunks of hair that were like 2 inches long. When I went to try to get it fixed they told me I needed to chop it because it was soo bad they couldn't even blend it with layers.

Pure orangeness, it was awful! I did the same thing in high school and had the same results. Never again. Besides, I've since realized I look weired as a blonde. I choose to be a redhead now. My worst hair disaster happened in college. I had normally colored my hair burgundy back then, but wanted to try something different. For a while I colored my hair black. i had wanted black with stoplight red highlights in the front but the red never turned out red so I went all black. i did get compliments on the black hair. Some people even thought it was my natural hair color (since my eyebrows are naturally black). After a few months I decided to go back to burgundy. Well those who have ever tried to remove black hair color knows how hard it is to remove. I found an at-home hair color remover kit so tried it. Well it removed the hair color alright. Problem is, it came close to removing my hair as well! Where I had tried to highlight my hair, the hair came out in chunks, leaving only a couple inches from the root. As far as the rest of my hair went, it was SEVERELY damaged. For a couple weeks I used every conditioner I could get my hands on to no avail. Every time I brushed my hair, I had very bad breakage. There would be pieces of hair all over the bathroom sink and the floor. After a while I decided to go to my hair stylist to see if there was anything she could do to save my hair. Unfortunately there was not a whole lot except cut my chin-length hair very short. If you remember how short Halle Berry use to have her hair, that's how short it was. I also had to use a protein conditioner for a few days. I quickly learned to like my short hair and even kept it short for a few years. Moral of the story is NEVER use an at-home hair color remover. Go to a professional if you want hair color removed. Of course my hair has since made a full recovery. It's now shoulder length and i've stuck to shades of dark auburn.
