  • Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel with Pump

This gel is oil-free, leaves a matte finish on my face, and doesn't cause my skin to break out. However, it doesn't moisurize much at all. A moisturizer that doesn't moisturize isn't useful to me. Even worse, this product irritates my sensitive skin. Overall, I much prefer Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Moisture Gel, which is in a similar price range, leaves my skin matte while still giving me the right amount moisture, and is colorant-free. Ingredients: water, dimethicone, isododecane, butylene glycol, bis-peg-18 methyl ether dimethyl silane, glycerin, laminaria saccharina extract, lactobacillus ferment, polygonum cuspidatum root extract, saccharomyces lysate extract, cucumber fruit extract, barley extract, sunflower seedcake, caffeine, trehalose, sodium hyaluronate, tocopheryl acetate, chamomilla recutita, polysilicone-11, silica, propylene glycol dicaprate, oleth-10, laureth-23, laureth-4, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/vp copolymer, carbomer, tromethamine, disodium edta, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, yellow 5, red 4, yellow 6.

Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo

Nice shadows but more shimmer than I prefer

These are nicely pigmented shadows, which is a nice departure from Clinique's previous shadows. However, the duos all have more shimmer than I prefer.

  • Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara
    5.0

    Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara

    okay but not my favorite

I like the way this mascara really curls my lashes and subtly enhances them without clumping (as long as I apply just one coat). I find the brush very easy to use without getting mascara all over my face (something I have trouble with when I use mascaras with large, fluffy brushes). However, I discovered that it will smudge and flake on hot, humid days. I wasn't overly fond of Maybelline Full 'N Soft Mascara, but at least it didn't smudge or flake. I'll just have to keep looking for the best mascara for me. Ingredients: purified water, carnauba wax, silica, glyceryl stearate, polyisobutane, stearic acid, oleic acid, acrylates copolymer, aminomethyl propanediol, hydrolyzed soy protein, lauroyl lysine, acacia senegal, pvp/polycarbamyl polyglycol ester, peg-8 beeswax, panthenol, lecithin, simethicone, propylene glycol, hydroxyethylcellulose, caprylyl glycol, sodium hyaluronate, benzyl alcohol, trisoidum edta, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, isobutylparaben. May Contain: iron oxides, mica, titanium dioxide, busmuth oxychloride, chromium hydroxide green, manganes violet, chromium oxide greens, carmine, ultramarines, ferric ferrocyanide.

    Clinique High Impact Mascara

    A terrible mascara

This is one of the worst mascaras I have ever used. Yes, it lengthens, thickens, and curls my lashes, but it also smears and clumps terribly. It even clumps on the wand! I received this as a gift with purchase several times, but I certainly will not be purchasing.

  • Clinique Different Lipstick

    Clinique Different Lipstick

One of my favorite lipstick formulas

This is one of my favorite lipstick formulas. I like the way it isn't too opaque or too drying, and it doesn't change color on my pigmented lips the way many other lipsticks do. My favorite shade is Shy, a brownish-plummy mauve that looks like my natural lip color only darker and better, which I wore for my wedding. Ingredients: castor oil, candelilla wax, caprylic triglyceride, cetyl acetate, isopropyl myristate, beeswax, lanolin oil, myristyl lactate, avocado oil, acetylated lanolin alcohol, ozokerite, carnauba, ascorbyl palmitate, tocopherol, propylparaben, mica, titanium dioxide, bismuth oxychloride, iron oxides, carmine, colors.

  • Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush

I have this blush in two shades: Iced Lotus and Smoldering Plum. They appear a little bit shimmery in the pan. I generally hate shimmer, but applied to my very fair skin, these blushes are just a glowy without obvious shimmer. They are well pigmented; I generally just touch my blush brush to the product. If I swipe the brush across the product, I'll end up with clown cheeks. They applies easily and blends well. Overall, I think it's a great blush, though I wish they'd omitted the cheap brush and streamlined the packaging. Ingredients: talc, dimethicone, silica, zinc stearate, nylon-12, lauryl laurate, tetrasodium edta, potassium sorbate, chlorphenesin. May contain: mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxides, bismuth oxychloride, yellow 5 lake, carmine, red 7 lake, ferric ferrocyanide, blue 1 lake, red 22 lake, red 36 lake, manganese violet, red 30 lake, red 33 lake, red 28 lake, red 34 lake, ultramarines, yellow 6 lake, red 6.

    Clinique All About Eyes

    I'm not impressed

I've received this several times as a gift with purchase. I always use it up, but I'm not terribly impressed with it. I don't really need a separate mosturizer for my eye area, so I use one only when I get it for free. All About Eyes is a basic, light, fragrance-free moisturizer, but I don't like the jar packaging. I won't purchase this for myself. Ingredients: cyclopentasiloxane, purified water, isostearyl palmitate, polyethylene, butylene glycol, polysilicone-11, ethylene/acrylic acid copolymer, palmitoyl oligopeptide, mulberry root extract, caffeine, phytosphingosine, wheat bran extract, scutellaria baicalensis root extract, olive fruit extract, green tea leaf extract, cholesterol, linoleic acid, tocopheryl acetate, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, pyridoxine dipalmitate, sucrose, glycerin, dimethicone, glyceryl polymethacrylate, glyceryl laurate, peg/ppg-18/18 dimethicone, quaternium-18 bentonite, petrolatum, cetyl peg/ppg-10/1 dimethicone, propylene carbonate, sodium chloride, peg-8, disodium edta, sodium sulfite, sodium metabisulfite, iron oxides.

  • Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash
    8.0

    Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash

A good cleanser for oily skin

I started using this cleanser in high school, and it was probably the first facial cleanser I used that wasn't too harsh. I used it all through college because it was gentle on my sensitve, acne-prone skin and didn't sting my eyes and it was cheap and easily accessible at drugstores and Wal-Mart. It's definitely one of the best drugstore cleansers available. What I always hated about it, though, was the pump because it didn't lock and I traveled a lot. I generally transferred it to a squeeze-type bottle. I stopped using it when I decided that my sensitve skin really does better with a fragrance-free cleanser. I now use Paula's Choice cleansers. Ingredients: Water, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG 150 Distearate, Sodium Lauroampho PG Acetate Phosphate, Fragrance, Quaternium 15, Tetrasodium EDTA.

  • Mary Kay TimeWise 3-In-1 Cleanser (combination to oily)

I received a generous 1 oz. sample of this product from my husband's cousin, who sells Mary Kay. I like the fact that it is fragrance-free, but that is about all that I like about it. I found it a bit drying, even for my oily face. I also prefer for my cleansers to foam at least a little bit. And the cleaning power didn't come close to my HG Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Cleanser. I even prefer the Mary Kay Cleanser 3 to this TimeWise stuff. I will not be purchasing this cleanser. Ingredients: water, tea-lauryl sulfate, hexylene glycol, disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, triethanolamine, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, burdock extract, grapefruit extract, hops extract, equisetum hiemale extract, salvia officinalis (sage) extract, witch hazel extract, horse chestnut extract, propylene glycol, disodium EDTA. diazolidinyl urea, carnauba wax, mannitol, methylparaben, cellulose, butylene glycol, propylparaben, C9-15 alkyl phosphate, lauramine oxide, glycerin, thermus thermophillus ferment, ethyl linoleate, ethyl lnollenate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, phenoxyethanol, talc, ultramarine, red 30.

  • Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion N SPF 60

I've been on a long quest through many products for a sunscreen that provides stable protection, is lightweight and matte, and doesn't sting or make me break out. Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 55 actually fulfills all those criteria. It is very fluid, doesn't leave a white cast, doesn't ball up, and goes on a little greasy, but once it absorbs and dries (10-15 minutes), it is very matte. In fact, I've found that I need to apply a thin layer of lightweight moisturizer underneath to keep my skin from drying out (even though I have oily skin and the weather is warm). Because of this, I will try the cream version in the winter. But I don't mind having to add a little moisture; that's far better than a sunscreen being too moisturizing. There are two reasons I didn't give this product 5 lippies: I dislike the overwhelming fragrance and would much prefer a fragrance-free sunscreen; and I would prefer if the product were packaged in a pump since it's so fluid. But despite the fragrance and the alcohol, it is so gentle that I can apply it all over my eye area, even on my lids! Overall, this is by far the best sunscreen I have found. Active Ingredients:Octinoxate 7.4%, Zinc Oxide 13.9%. Inactive Ingredients: water, cyclomethicone, butylene glycol, dimethicone, polymethyl methacrylate, trimethylsiloxysilicate, polybutylene glycol/ppg-9/1 copolymer, dimethicone copolyol, dextrin palmitate, xylitol, methyl gluceth-10, glutathione, zinc myristate, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, thiotaurine, scutellaria baicalensis extract, ectoin, cyclopentasiloxane, glycerin, acrylates/dimethicone copolymer, aluminum hydroxide, isostearic acid, stearic acid, disteardimonium hectorite, silica, alcohol, trisodium edta, bht, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, ethylparaben, fragrance, titanium dioxide.
