    SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic

favorite new addition to my morning regimen

I'd been using Prevage underneath my SPF moisturizer for over a year and I felt like I needed a boost. I'd read that the C E Ferulic was among the best antioxidant products on the market and thought that its water like texture would work well underneath the Prevage and my SPF moisturizer, Clinique's Repairwear SPF 15 Day Lotion. I noticed instant results...my skin was brighter and more even right off the bat. The longer I've used it, the more I notice reduced pore size and diminished redness. I'm also confident that the long term benefits are going to make the biggest impact. I get the feeling that I've got the best como possible as far as prevention...two kinds of the best antioxidants, and another antioxidant rich moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF protection. My only issue with this product is the packaging. Given it's water like texture, you have to be very careful with the dropper. Also, I can't help but get the feeling that the air exposure from the time the dropper is off is impacting the products effecacy. Why can't it just come in a pump and maybe a gel-like texture?

    Dior Skinflash

Beats YSL's Touche Eclat hands down

It seemed like everybody started coming out with imitation Touche Eclats in the last 2 years or so. I was a big fan of that product and skeptical that others could deliver. Well Dior has definitely won that prize. As far as sheer highlighting concealers are concerned, this is #1. The trick is not to treat it like a concealer. What I like about this is that I can apply to the bridge of my nose, the corners of my nose, under my eyes, along my cheeks...anywhere my skin has darkness or redness...and it blends it in with the rest of my skin. Not in that dead full coverage monochromatic way that a full coverage concealer would, but in a natural way that still looks natural on my face. Your face is not supposed to be on color. I've always thought that looked odd on people. Skip your foundation, lightly pat a couple of dots of this where you feel like you could use some brightening/evening out, and I promise your skin will never look better.

  • Z. Bigatti Re-Storation Impact Fruit Enzyme Facial Mask

The best exfolliant I've ever used, hands down. Let your face steam in a hot shower for 10 to 15 minutes and then apply the treatment. I find the warm steam opens pores up and increases the level of exfoliation your skin experiences. Give it 10 to 15 minutes before you rinse off with cool water and you'll be amazed at how clean your skin looks and how small your pores appear. Skin is brighter and more even...I love it. I've noticed it has the added benefit of eliminating redness...a function of the enzymatic nature of the exfoliation (rather than scrubs or hydroxyacids) I'm guessing. The perfect 2 to 3 times a week treat for your skin!

  • Prevage Anti-Aging Treatment

    Prevage Anti-Aging Treatment

    A daytime staple

I've been using this product religiously every day for over a year and it's really made a substantial difference in my skin. I have normal/slightly combination skin and I'm prone to large pores so I'm pretty particular about a product's texture (especially during the daytime). It sinks right in and my skin immediately feels softer. Over time I've noticed that redness has diminished and my skin is brighter and more luminous. Having observed it consistently used a over an extended period of time, I think this product has not only halted the aging process in my skin, but improved existing damage. My newest experiment, however, has made an even bigger difference. Having read tons of information about the best antioxidants on the market, I concluded that Prevage, Skinceutical's C E Ferulic Serum, and Revale's Coffeeberry products were the three most potent/effective out there because they came up in every article as stand out stars. Given all the good press I'd heard about the coffeeberry ingredient, I was disappointed to find that the day cream from Revale didn't contain any UVA blocking sunscreens so I ruled out combining it with Prevage. This lead me to C E Ferulic, the water-like texture of which is perfect to apply before the more lotion like texture of Prevage. I give it a couple of minutes to sink in and then I apply Prevage. I then finish with Clinique's Repairwear SPF 15 lotion (it has a great matte finish, broad spectrum sun protection, and although it doesn't have coffeeberry, it still contains a substantial list of other antioxidants). I think this hat trick of antioxidant and sunscreen all stars keeps my skin in the best possible condition a day regimen can provide and I've already noticed improvements where I felt that using just the Prevage and Repairwear were plateauing.

    N.V. Perricone Evening Facial Emollient

A must have before you go out

I love using this product right before I leave for a night out or when I want to give my skin a little jump start in the evening. I've never a used an OTC retinol product where I felt that the retinol was actually active. Right away, you'll notice your face seems tighter and plumper and redness is significantly diminished. Also, it takes shine away instantly and leaves a gorgeous glow. I think this oil absobant feeling stems from its Retin-A - like texture reminding me of the "microsponges" in that product. That said, I've never used this product every night as my treatment product because I've found I have break out issues if I use it consistently. If your skin can tolerate it though, give it a shot as I think it's one of the best OTC retinol products out there.

  • Exuviance Evening Restorative Complex

    Exuviance Evening Restorative Complex

    Beautiful straight forward product

This is a great product if one is curious to see what Exuviance is all about. This rich night cream contains a strong but basic mix of antioxidants with 4% polyhydroxy acid in a low enough pH to allow for effective exfoliation. The texture has always been a bit to silky for my normal/slightly combination skin, but my face is always fresher and brighter when I wake up . I enjoy this on top of a really active serum (like ReVive's Arrete C Booster or a prescription retinoid) because I think it is both soothing/calming and exfoliating at the same time. In response to a previous reviewer's remarks, however, I must point out that Exuviance has some of the most effective, scientifically sound skincare at some of the lowest price points I've seen available. Although I think Olay does a nice job of hydrating, you're not going to see the active chemical exfoliation you see from this product and that's truly what's going to make a difference in your skin.

  • Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Cologne

    Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Cologne

    My signature scent secret

I have never worn a fragrance and received so many compliments. Men and women ask me what I'm wearing all the time, and I decided I had to keep it a secret. It's got an almost incense feel to it to which I think a lot of people universally respond. Just as you're appreciating its smoky sensuality, a crisp but warm zing of pomegranate strikes a chord that makes this a truly complex and captivating fragrance. Although I appreciate a previous reviewer who had concerns about staying power and did not want to layer, the always thorough ancillary range from Jo Malone is just begging to be indulged. From shower gel, to a decadent body cream, the newer lightweight body lotion, and a candle, I think this is a fragrance that needs to be appreciated in all its manifestations. Further, I would recommend to her that she just try the body cream. Although I don't have a problem with the staying power of the spray, the body cream is almost too potent for me at times and I just wear it by itself. You'll find it infuses your clothes with the scent and stays on your skin beautifully for the long term.

    SK-II Facial Treatment Essence

If you're curious about SK-II, give this product a shot

This is a unique product that I think would fit easily into anyone's existing skincare regiment. It's essentially water and their miracle ingredient pitera in a toner-like formulation that you pour into your hands and press onto your skin. Its liquid texture makes it a perfect complement to anyone using a serum and moisturizer on top. I think it's also great that the Pitera ingredient is at the top of the list...if nothing else, they put a lot of the active ingredient in the bottle and that makes me feel like I'm getting what I paid for. That said, my pores did seem somewhat smaller over time, my skin slightly softer, and more hydrated, and perhaps even a little brighter, and more even. Nothing hugely dramatic, but I did notice some nice differences and it felt good to apply.

  • SK-II Ultimate Revival Cream
    2.0

    SK-II Ultimate Revival Cream

    Spend your money elsewhere

Having tried several different products from SK-II, I had high hopes for this "ultimate" cream. Unfortunately, I think the pitera ingredient they so reverently pontificate about is a one trick pony. It's present in all their products and I don't see anything different about this one...except for the fact that it was absolutely the thickest, most tacky feeling cream I'd ever tried. If I were an extremely dry skinned person, perhaps the sensation of a sticky barrier resting on my skin's surface would feel comfortable, but this normal/slightly combination skin did not enjoy it. I woke up the next morning and my pores seemed larger and I was a little blotchy. And the rose smell...pervasive. It reminded me of Perricone's Face Finishing Moisturizer except an even stronger old lady rose scent. Not for the faint of heart (or nose). That said, I think there is some merit to the ingredients listed in the product...just not my favorite formulation. For less than a third the price, I think you can experience the benefits of this line from one product; their much hyped Facial Treatment Essence. It's pretty much just water and Pitera and I think it delivers nice results.

  • Estee Lauder DayWear Plus Multi Protection Anti-Oxidant Lotion SPF 30 for Normal/Combination Skin

Another of the few products I've used to the last drop and then replenished, the SPF 30 Daywear Plus is among one of my favorites. From the fresh cucumber scent (I'm addicted) to the potent mix of antioxidants and effective sunscreens, this is a phenomenal product for somebody who is picky about SPF. Although I would prefer there be less chemical UVB blocks and just a higher percentage of the zinc oxide to make for an SPF 30, this is still a standout treatment. It absorbs instantly and dries matte. It doesn't break me out and the sunscreen and antioxidants keep my sun damage paranoia at bay. Try this on top of Prevage (or Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Concentrate) to really reduce redness and feel like you're truly stopping the clock. P.S. Big fan of the packaging...antioxidants in jars tend to lose their efficacy over time and this bottle keeps them airtight and intact.
