    10.0

Chanel Rouge Double Intensite Ultra Wear Lip Color

CHANEL ROUGE DOUBLE INTENSITE ULTRA WEAR LIP COLOR

I am not a red lipstick sort of gal, but this is a terrific blue-red with good lasting power, and it's my go-to on those rare occasions when I want red lips. I always find the darker long-wearing lipsticks flake off in an uneven, flaky manner as the day goes by, but this one is pretty solid. It won't leave nasty red lipmarks on your coffee cup and will still have plenty of color left at the end of the day, even if it's not a perfect as it was in the morning. I also like the gloss portion of the Chanels - very silky and moisturizing. One of the best long-wearing reds out there; certainly the best I've ever tried. All of the Chanel Rouge Double Intensite lipsticks are such an underrated product, perhaps the best of all the lipsticks Chanel has to offer behind Rouge Allures. It's a long-lasting liquid lipstick with color on one end and a clear gloss on the other. Slight vanilla scent, but not overwhelming. Unlike other lipsticks of similar style, this wears off evenly instead of flaking. I get a good 7-8 hours. As for Ruby Lite, it's a warm-toned, berry-ish red. Very pretty alone with just a dab of the gloss for work, or gloss all over for a night look. A tip: Rather than using the doefoot applicator to apply the color, I use a flat concealer brush. Mine is just a cheap one from Posh. It helps the color lay more evenly, creating a gorgeous canvas for the gloss! I did take off one lippie because the gloss end tends to spurt out if you push back in too quickly. Retails for $32. Somebody pinch me. Did my dream really come true? Not only have I finally found my HG red, it also comes in an ultra long-wearing formula that does not come off until I take it off! Let me tell you, I have bought so many red lippies, and although I found some nice shades, I was never satisfied to wear any as is, I always ended up mixing & layering other colors to get the effect I wanted. The Ruby Lite Rouge Double Intensité is the perfect, most flattering shade of red on me, with a hint of shimmer to bring it to life. I wouldn't classify it as a true gloss, because the red color portion is extremely opaque--it's like a paint, or liquid lipstick. It might be slightly on the cool side, which is just how I like my colors (really makes my teeth look white and bright). And talk about long-lasting. I have tried other so-called long wear lip colors, and this is the only one that truly delivers. It applies smoothly, doesn't crack or collect in corners or folds, and isn't drying or irritating to my lips. It stays comfortable and PERFECT all day long, and believe me, I tested it on Thanksgiving, and it survived all the eating, drinking, and kissing all day long. It's also pretty versatile, which was an unexpected boon. With the gloss, it is an intense, high shine red lip. I have also layered the red color over some of my old red lippies (my old MAC Russian Red felt neglected) and I've got an indelible matte look. You can dab on lightly with fingertip for a subtle stain too, or adjust the depth depending on how you apply. Tips: Please make sure lips are exfoliated before using, and apply carefully, because when it sets, it is truly set all day and beyond. It seriously passes the white napkin test. So even though $30 might seem expensive, it's worth every penny. Since you virtually never have to touch up, I think it is a better value than other products you use up more quickly. Will I repurchase? I already have! I love Rouge Double Intensité, but my husband might love it even more--he loves being able to kiss me without getting color smeared all over his & my face. That's the best testimony of all!

  • Guerlain KissKiss Precious Colors Lipstick
    10.0

    Guerlain KissKiss Precious Colors Lipstick

GUERLAIN KISSKISS - PRECIOUS COLOURS SILKY AND DELICIOUS

Really nice lipstick, glides smoothly over the lips and is a good moisturizing formula. No glitters (luckily), but it does give your lips a nice "sheen". Repurchased in different colours because of the nice feeling and lovely perfume. Case is a little bit too bling but nevertheles a feminine, sensual design. I purchased this online at Sephora in the limited edition Butterfly collection. I chose the 515 shade. So happy I did! The color is so perfect for days when pink is just not quite dark enough, red is just too far gone, and mauve won't fit in. The feel, texture, moisture, cream amount to me is just the right recipe. Anyone who knows and loves the pleasant light fragrance of a Guerlain lipstick is going to love this one. It is not an over-powering smell, but rather a smell that lets you know you are applying a lavish, quality product from Guerlain. If you can still find this color, buy it, you will be glad you did. I have it in colour Rose Ingenue which is nice pink-brownish colour and it is ideal to have with smokey eyes. The natural colour of my lips is very red and this lipstick manages to cover my natural lip colour perfectly. It lasts long. When you apply it, the texture is smooth and silky and it seems as if the lipstick moisturizes your lips, buf after some time the lipstick becomes very dry and it will, if your lips aren't smooth, accentuate the lines on your lips. I was so HAPPY to discover these lipsticks online for a fraction of their retail price! I could never have afforded to buy them at full price and I was always curious about them. So I really took advantage and got 2. I am so glad I did, these are divine! I LOVE the colours, I got 501 strawberry something and 502 strawberry candy or pink candy or something like that. The candy colour is GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS, a sort of sheer like pinky colour with different coloured shimmer, I think it would go well with any kind of makeup and any colour lips or skintone as it's quite sheer and nudish. The 501 strawberry colour is also nice, it's more pigmented than 502 so it can only go with certain kinds of makeup, I think. It's a light strawberry shade. These are really smooth and creamy although I do find that they are a bit drying after they wear off or you take it off, so in that aspect I prefer MAC. I'm absolutely CRAZY about the taste and fragrance though, I LOVE the taste and fragrance and I will put this lipstick on just so I can lick it, even when no one is going to see me! Don't care too much about the packaging though, it's quite lovely but I find it too big and clunky and heavy to be really practical and carry around on the run. I like the clunking sound it makes when I open it though. It's taken me over a year to decide, but other than the beautiful color selection—and some colors are indeed magnificent— I can not find much to recommend about these lipstcks. I have Sexy Tango, a gorgeous corally red, and Beige Strasse, a too-frosty-for-me peachy copper. The formula is a bit drying though not waxy, and the signature Guerlain violet scent is overbearing and irritating to my throat, and it doesn't dissipate with time. Some eau de parfum I could name should last as long as this lipstick's scent. The much admired, dowager friendly tube feels nice in the hand, but for my taste it's an over-designed clunker. If these were unscented I'd be more forgiving of the somewhat minor flaws, but for the high price there are other lipsticks I feel better about buying. I have always loved Guerlain lipsticks and used them regularly until about a year ago when they discontinued my favourite shade and I could find nothing to replace it with. The appeal of Guerlain has always been the fact they carry a range of orangey shades which have no pink in them (I have wasted shed loads of cash on lipsticks which look orange/peach in the tube and ALWAYS go pink on me!) and the wonderful tube with the little mirror on the end - priceless! So why oh why did they have to discontinue the most commonsense packaging in the world? Having read the impressive reviews on MA I thought I'd investigate this new line and the completely new range of shades. I was not disappointed. I bought "Fauve Seduisant 546" which really complements my red hair and hazel eyes. Its a gorgeous peachy terracotta shade which goes on with a beautiful shine. Subtle on its own - it 'pops' with a little clear gloss over it. It comes in the most extravagant gold packaging you'd be proud to pull out and apply anywhere! (Even if there is no mirror in the bottom of the tube for which I removed 1 lippy in the review!) The texture is very soft - its a sort of gel/creme and what really surprised me is its incredible staying power without drying. It faded evenly and left my lips really soft with a light stain. Overall I was very impressed with its performance and value for money.

  • MAC Mattene Lipstick
    10.0

    MAC Mattene Lipstick

    MAC MATTENE LIPSTICK

This has just recently become a favorite of mine. It's almost an exact match to my own lip color and with gloss on-this is da bomb!! I will say that on me it looks a lot like MAC Faux, so for you girls looking for a close dupe, that may be it. Love it and if I can get my hands on more, I'll stock up! This is a really nice neutral mid tone pinky brown matte lipstick. I missed out when it first came out- it was sold out everywhere I went. Someone at the MAC store told me it was like if Twig and ( something else I forgot, this was a few years ago. ) had a baby. So think the Twig reference from other reviewers were stating is pretty close to what this looks like- but it doesn't look exactly like Twig. Flattering has slightly more pink and beige in it and of course the texture is different. I picked this up at the CCO the other day and am really glad I did. Overall it's nothing unique or special. But it's one of those lipsticks that you know will make you look good- like a lipstick you'd wear in a interview- professional and polished. I like that it's matte but not drying. It last a LOT longer than the normal MAC lipstick. The texture is smooth and feels good on the lips. The packaging is slim matte tube. I hope that MAC will re-release this line. I would defiantly buy this again- and check out other colors! I really love this lipstick. It makes me so sad that it's LE. It's a nude/pink/brown matte lipstick. It's so creamy and doesn't make my lips all chapped and crappy looking at the end of the day. I almost never have to reapply because it just stays on my lips. Mattene lipsticks really have a great texture and feels so nice. I hate when my lips get dry from lipsticks. This lipstick also kicks the butt of mac's other matte lipsticks which I find to be drying. I think I must cry myself an ocean because guess what, I found one of my HG in a limited collection. It is a warm pink, so natural and of course, very very flattering. It is soooo creamy, especially for a matt lip stick, and it is a great colour payoff. It paves on my lips, making them nothing but gorgeous. Smells vanilla-y, none of those nasty lipstick smells like in those high-end lipsticks. Stays on just the longest time (like all matt lipsticks), makes lips look soft and smooth. It is not drying like the other matt lipsticks from MAC, and I just love it the way it is. The container is a rubbery matt version of the slimshine lipsticks. Argh, just plain gorgeous. I guess the only down side, and not very necessary too, is that when you apply this lipstick, your lips have to be in perfect condition already to achieve the best effect. Otherwise the colour just will not distribute evenly on your lips if lips are chapped. (actually the downside of all lipsticks).

  • Estee Lauder Signature Hydra Lustre Lipstick

Estee Lauder Signature Hydra Lustre Lipstick

ESTEE LAUDER SIGNATURE HYDRA LUSTRE LIPSTICK

Estee Lauder Hydra Lustre Lipsticks does what it promises - hydrates and gives the lips a lovely sheen. Smells delicious. Long lasting. Has a lovely formulation. Gorgeous packaging. The best range of colours out there on the market today. Worth every penny. Love them! This is my favorite lipstick formula. It feels like a thick balm, not slippy like moisturizing lipstick formulas, and lasts very well through eating and drinking. I picked up Plum Amethyst from the cosmetics Company outlet; it has a gorgeous stain finish. It has the signature Estee Lauder "fig" scent, which I like, though it smells like cider to me. I definitely recommend trying these before forking over for Chanel Rouge Allure, the formula i hear the most raves about in terms of comfort, which i find to be a bit irritating (and expensive). For a department store lipstick, this is lovely. It contains shea butter, vitamins, olive fruit extract, wheat bran extract, barley extract, murumuru butter, squalane, and fatty acids. It is fantastically creamy and moisturizing. I'd been looking for an ideal red shade, one that was deep, subtle and natural. I chose the color Cranberry, which is a dark neutral red with berry undertones. At first I thought it was too bright for my pale skin, but it depends on the lighting. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite red lipsticks. It actually looks a little bloody, which is great. I've been looking for that elusive "bitten lips" color and it looks like Cranberry is it. EL's Hydra Lustre line is my favorite lipstick. I wish they weren't so expensive but after trying, buying, and tossing a ton of drugstore brands I've decided these are well worth it. They never dry out my lips, the color stays put and they don't stink. There's a shade in the line for just about everyone.

  • Estee Lauder Illusionist Intense Mascara
    10.0

    Estee Lauder Illusionist Intense Mascara

    Estee Lauder Illusionist Intense Mascara

A competent mascara that lengthens and curls lashes for a natural look. Doesn't clump or flake, unless you attempt to heap on layers. Leaves slight shadows on my under eye area at the end of the day, but that usually means 10+ hrs of wear, to be fair. One thing I love is how glossy my lashes look when I have this on. It definitely did it all for me the curl the lengthening and thickening. Only let down is the price. I bought about 10 of these, so I definately recommend. This product (which is quite old by the way; it used to be my mom's) still works and and still gives my lashes INCREDIBLE curl, without any volume/length baggage. It's unusual for me to love a mascara in shade Black so much, but my eyelashes were seriously super curly with just one coat. Keeping in mind this is probably at least four years old already. I have to say this is the best mascara I have tried in the past few months. It does not clump, flake, or smudge (in my case). I find that you have to let dry a bit between coats. It really legthens my lashes, and gives me that "fake" lash look. That's good for me cause been thinking of getting extentions. Anyway, I have to say you still need the eyelash curler. I love this in intense black. It has bluish tint to it that really brightens my eyes.

  • Sephora Triple Action Mascara

    Sephora Triple Action Mascara

    Sephora Triple Action Mascara

This mascara is amazing. I have long lashes but they're not very thick. I've had a problem finding something thickening and volumizing and this has been perfect! Unfortunately it is now a discontinued product, and I have to find something else that is similar. This brush gets in the corner of your eyes, great for outter lashes. It can get curled lash ends too. It does not clump, works well and is a good value. I have tried soo many mascaras probably about 100! This by far is my favorite! Im so sad that sephora is discontinuing it. Now I have to go on a search for a new mascara. It did lengthen my lashes, which was what i wanted, and darkened the color. I did not notice any increase in volume though. I did not mind that but if you want volume i wouldn't say that this is the mascara for it. I really loved this mascara and I'm sad it's no longer available. I used this mascara for nearly four years and never had any complaints. It did tend to flake at the end of the day but it didn't really bother me. The brush was the perfect size, just big enough to add volume without being too big to smudge on your brow bone or eyelid, and the formula was really black which I love. The unique brush grabs my lashes and lifts them up high, while giving them the perfect curl. I no longer need my eyelash curler!

  • Prescriptives Beyond Long Maximum Length Mascara
    9.0

Prescriptives Beyond Long Maximum Length Mascara

Prescriptives Beyond Long Maximum Lenghth Mascara

Although I love the packaging, this mascara just didn't do it for me. Yes, it does lengthen, but at the expense of any remote amount of volume and definition. On the other hand, when I layer this over Clinique High Definition Mascara, my eyelashes looked fake..and fabulous! It's pretty tame on its own. I love this mascara, it certainly works for me. I like the slimness of the wand so u get good and close to the lash line. It makes my eyes pop and I don't get clumps. I have tried so many mascaras, Dior, Chanel, Lancome, etc. and I always come back to this. I find this to be volumizing and lengthening. It lasts all day, doesn't smudge and gives me the exact look I want. I used to use Lancome's lash primer and then Definicils, but this does the same job for less than half the price of those two products. The applicator is very ergonomic, with the cushioned top (kind of like a pen with a cushioned grip). It lasts as long as any other department store mascara I've tried and you can easily apply a second coat if you like. I have moods when it comes to Mascara and I try different kinds from time to time trying to achieve something different. I even bought a set of 4 mascaras from Prescriptives that had their main mascaras. I love them all but every time I return to the Beyond Long. I have pretty full lashes, so I just curl and sweep a little of the mascara and my lashes are dark and lengthy and super flirty and pretty. No flaking, no smudging. I highly recommend. Yes, it's expensive but pretty midrange for the non drugstore mascaras. I loved this mascara when I tried it on. I was almost tempted to return the Lancome's Fatale I just bought to buy this one. (I wish I did) It gave such amazing length to my lashes. I was amazed they could look so long. The only problem was that there wasn't any volume added at all. (Which is fine, as it doesn't say it's suppose to, but I was hoping so). If you were looking, you could see the length, but on darker skin as I have, you can't see it very well if there's not volume. So if you have naturally pronounced eyelashes, and just want them longer, this is the mascara to buy. It's also upper midrange in price. (About $20.) Everything is perfect about it. My mom borrowed it and immediately wanted to purchase it. It's the right color, consistency, packaging, price, and formulation for me. I tend to be messy when applying and the brush on this one helps prevent that, while giving me the "long and smooth" lash look I love. The packaging is really cute and the silicone or plastic or rubber part on the wand makes the wand really easy to hold. I really do love this mascara. It's the only one that I have ever worn that I have gotton compliments on what nice eyelashes I have. It's a very nice product from perscriptives as well as their camoflauge cream conceler. However the only reason I did not give this 5 lippies is because after a couple of hours it does tend to flake off and land under my eyes which can make me look like a racoon. My makeup tip is to use a little of the langerai and galashes from urban decay. The primer may help the mascara to better adhere to the lashes. Amazing product overall.

  • Max Factor 2000 Calorie Straight Brush Mascara
    10.0

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Straight Brush Mascara

MAX FACTOR 2000 CALORIE STRAIGHT BRUSH MASCARA

I really love this mascara! It adds so much volume and a bit of length to my medium length lashes. And the black colour is the blackest black i've ever seen in a mascara! It doesn't flake or smudge at all. The reasons why I rate this 4 out of 5 is, that when i'm hurry in the morning and need to apply this quickly, it gets all over my eyelid because the brush is a little big for me. But well that's just my opinion. UPDATE: I'VE FOUND THE BEST WAY TO APPLY THIS 2000 CALORIE MASCARA without getting it on your eyelids. If you put some vaseline on your lashes before you go to bed (of course you have to remove the mascara first) then next morning your lashes will be much more voluminous and it's alot easier to apply the mascara. Just a tip. Mascara is never going to provide the same effect as false-lashes, get over it. I'd wanted to try this for ages, as is the way with most cosmetic products these days. This one is of excellent quality. It adds loads of volume to my lashes, doesn't smudge or flake whatsoever, and most importantly, provides the most richest-black colour of any mascara I've ever tried. For that reason alone, max factor 2000 calories really stands out to me. It reminds me VERY much of Maybelline's falsies, in that it really thickens up the lashes and adds length, only this one is much darker. It is my new everyday mascara, with the only cons being that the formula is slightly wetter than I prefer (not a deal breaker though), and the brush is a little on the big side for me and sometimes I get it on my lids - but it comes off skin easily and is a small price to pay for a great inexpensive mascara. Have tried sooo many mascaras - Diorshow, Chanel, Maybelline, L'oreal, MAC, Japanese brands... this is one of few that has met my needs. Other faves are Estee Lauder Zero Smudge Lengthening, and a random brand from my local beauty store, called Isabelle Dupont (EXCELLENT mascara). I also like that it's really black; can be built up for a dramatic look or one coat for day is great (a bit on the intense side still but at least it doesn't clump). I bought this product on a recent trip to the UK after hearing so many good reviews...and I must say I agree with the hype. This mascara is AMAZING. With one coat of this, my lashes are long, full, and curly. I don't even bother curling them anymore! HG. Go buy yourself some- the price won't break the bank either.

  • Milani Baked Blush
    10.0

    Milani Baked Blush

    MIlani Baked Blush

I finally found these at Walgreens. I wanted to try them based on all the positive reviews. I ended up getting four of them. The packaging is pretty sturdy. I threw out the brush it came with, but I always do that. The product itself is really nice, it looks much more glittery in the pan than on skin. It is shimmery on, but definately not over the top at all. Of the colors I got this is my least favorite, because it pulls really warm on me, it looks more pink in the pan. Great product overall, will buy more of these. When I first saw reviews on these online, I was immediately intrigued: not only are they shaped very similarly to my much beloved collection of MAC Mineralized Skinfinish blushes, but they are so much more affordable at $7.99 a piece! Everywhere I read reviews on these blushes, they are always saying something along the line “You need this!” or “Dupe for MAC MSFs”. I love this blush so much–the lightest sweep of your brush will pick up enough product to apply on your cheeks. One thing that definitely stood out was the plastic packaging. I’m not a fan, and I think the gold/yellow packaging looks so tacky! It’s not as sturdy as I hoped, and I really hated how it looks, and would never consider purchasing it if it wasn’t for the quality. All of the colors are packed with glitter, so this might not be a favourite for some. My favourite of the bunch have got to be Corallina and Rose D’Oro. They are the most gorgeous coral shade, with shimmery gold veins across. It’s not only pretty to look at, but looks amazing on my skin! It’s quite powdery, so it’s best not to sweep it back and forth, but rather pat the blush several times lightly. I added a swatch for MAC's Margin and Milani's Rose D'Oro they are almost exactly the same, I'd say they are almost interchangeable as far as color goes, if anything under direct light margin is a bit rosier, and rose d'oro a bit more peachy, on my skin tone at least, NC 25. Also, the Milani blush is much more pigmented, I had to swatch margin way more times to get it to show up. This is a really beautiful blush, like many others have said it's a rose color with goldish veining. On my skin it looks rather peachy/bronze looking, kind of reminiscent of MAC's Margin. The gold shimmer is not too much but really makes my face have a glow to it especially now in the winter. I bought this, corallina and red vino at the same time, I ended up giving way more love to corallina, until I left it in another makeup bag and used this instead. Its really pigmented and you can layer it, I find that I dont use a bronzer when I wear this, whereas I need one with corallina and red vino, this is a bronzy blush, at least on my skin tone. What i love about these baked blushes is the fact that they dont look powdery on the skin, as a retin-a user I really appreciate the pigmentation and the fact that they formulation doesnt cling to my flakies. I love the colors/bronzers and blush milani is coming out with. Great product.

    TIGI Bed Head Eyeshadow Pallet

I got this palette about a month ago, after reading lots of good reviews about it in different blogs. I found it a little bit expensive, but it's totally worth it! The colors are beautiful, very pigmented, with gorgeous neutral tones (except for the purple one, that isn't neutral, but is discreet enough). The pans are big and the quality is comparable to MAC, for sure. The black color is more pigmented than MAC's carbon... I am really glad with this palette, and unless you already have all the neutrals you need (with high quality), this is a really good palette to have! I received this in a swap and she gave me a great dael(thanks gjj!) on this palette... i believe it's only available in salons now. i love mac eyeshadows, but these are far more pigmented! carbon is nothing compared to the "black" in this palette-- it's very pigmented, the most of any i've tried! "copper"(frost) and "brown" (matte)combine nicely for a great smoky eye,"wine" is a deep eggplant, "vanilla" is a pigmented satin color, "peach" is a frosty pale peach, "natural" is a frosty nude, "passion" is a sparky magenta. these pans are HUGE. i absolutely love this palette. if i could find this again, i'd buy it on the spot.
