  • Almay Smart Shade Makeup

This foundation does everything it says it will. I'm fair but warm complected and have always struggled to find foundation products that will match, so I was excited to try this smart shade foundation...but skeptical about whether it would really be able to match my skin tone. But it does! It's a good, medium coverage foundation and didn't make my face break out which was a big concern for me. It lasted the whole day and my skin wasn't unusually oily by the end of the day. I do have oily skin and this foundation didn't do anything to control that. I'm writing this review in past tense because I eventually decided I just wasn't a fan of liquid foundation and stopped using this. But that's just a personal preference and doesn't change the fact that this is a fantastic product!

  • Almay Intense i-Color Eyeliner

I have red hair and brown eyes and this purple eyeliner really compliments my coloring, especially when paired with the coordinating eye shadow. I LOVE this product and wear it all the time. Update: Wow, this was not a helpful review! I've changed my rating, taking two stars off because this just doesn't last. I have oily lids and no matter what I do, most if not all of this liner has rubbed off by the end of the day. But that doesn't make me love it any less because the color is perfect and it is creamy and applies so smoothly. I've been using this at least a couple times a week since I bought it and it still hasn't run out yet! I will have to consider before I repurchase since it doesn't last as well as I'd like...but I might buy it again anyway!

  • Almay Intense I-Color Liquid Eyeliner

I bought this in the amethyst shade to complement my brown eyes and red hair (and to go with the accompanying Almay i-color eye shadows...). The color is definitely very flattering and it's incredibly easy to use and lasts fantastically. Unfortunately, I'm just not great at using liquid liner and never had the patience to practice and get better at it, so I got rid of this. Sometimes I regret it, though, since I have been having trouble with pencil liners not lasting as well as I would like. I might have to give this a second chance! I love Almay products overall, I think they are high quality and come in great, flattering shades.

  • CoverGirl Clean Makeup Remover for Eyes & Lips

I bought this awhile ago and then shortly after bought something different to use regularly. I kept this around and use it if I absolutely have to (the bottle is small enough, it's good for travel). It's very runny and I generally prefer my makeup remover to have a thicker, creamier texture. I don't love the smell and it leaves a very greasy, shiny residue on my eyes and lips after use that no amount of washing and wiping can get rid of. (This residue was ESPECIALLY gross the couple of times I used it to remove a long-wear lipstick. Ick.) It does take off makeup well, but I just don't like it for regular use and I will not buy this again.

  • Maybelline New York ExpertWear Eye Shadow Quads

I have one of these that I really like. I don't remember the color name, but it's shades of purple with a white color for a brow highlighter. I threw out the sponge applicators right away (I always do) and I apply these with the shadow brushes I keep in my makeup case. I admit that I do use one shade in the quad more than all the others because for every day I often don't do a whole look with shadow for my eyes--I do liner and mascara as a minimum and if I"m in the mood or have extra time I will sometimes use one shade on my lids and call it done. The color isn't as saturated in these as I would like, but it's easy enough to build the color to the intensity that I want it to be. The labels for where each shade should go can be handy when I don't want to think too hard about how I want to do my makeup (but there is more than one way to use any of those colors, so for newbies it can be limiting...). Probably when the one shade I use most runs out I won't replace this, simply because I know I can get the same color from a higher quality brand and I am willing to pay more for that.

  • Maybelline New York Shine Free Oil Control Loose Powder

Loose powder isn't something I use daily, by any means, but I love having it handy when I need it. This particular powder has been perfect for every occasion I've ever needed loose powder. I bought this years ago, I believe in a translucent shade, and I'm just now starting to run low. Not only because I don't use it super often, but it's such a great powder, a little bit goes a long way. The package is designed well so I haven't had any disastrous loose powder spills (except one that was my own clumsy fault). I threw out the puff that was included in the jar as soon as I opened it and apply this with a fluffy powder brush. Even when I apply this over oily skin, or skin that is still a bit sticky from applying sunscreen, this powder blends like a dream. It gives me just as much coverage as I would expect from a translucent loose powder--that is, not much at all. It smooths my skin and helps control oil, but make note that if you want to cover imperfections, you'll want to use something heavier first, or at least spot treat with some concealer because this powder will not hide anything. I love it as a finishing powder, over sunscreen (as mentioned above) or lately over BB cream. I love my BB cream, but I still prefer a powder finish. I also dust a thick layer of this powder under my eyes before applying eye shadow that I know will leave sparkles or a layer of shadow dust under my eyes. After eye makeup application is finished, a gentle wipe with a tissue takes away the excess eye shadow AND loose powder without damaging the rest of my makeup. When I run out of this I will most definitely purchase again!

  • American Beauty Luxury for Lids Eyeshadow Duo

I got this from a friend and I've really enjoyed it! I forget what my particular duo is called, but one shade is white with gold shimmer and the other is pink with gold shimmer and I think both colors are beautiful! I use a Sephora brand shadow primer and I never have any trouble with this shadow creasing or coming off throughout the day. I can't wear this when I wear my contacts because of the shimmer, but so far I've found that to be true of any eye shadow, regardless of brand or price. I'm happy my friend gave me this because the colors are lighter than what I would normally choose for myself, but they're great for making my eyes look brighter and complimenting my warm skin tone. I would buy these in other colors!

  • Smith's Rosebud Salve
    10.0

    Smith's Rosebud Salve

    I have these stashed everywhere...

Honestly, I've lost count of how many of these I own because I keep them EVERYWHERE so I always have it handy. This isn't my favorite lip balm, but it does do a nice job in a pinch if nothing else is handy. Be careful not to apply too much on your lips or it just feels too slippery and icky. The scent is nice--noticeable, pleasant, and not too strong or fake. My absolute favorite way to use this is as a moisturizer for my cuticles. I have a LOT of trouble with my cuticles and have never found any other product that treats and maintains them as well as this one. As long as I am consistent with using it a couple times a day (which I struggle with sometimes because I'm forgetful), my cuticles always look nice. I can put it on once in the morning and it keeps my cuticles moisturized most of the rest of the day, even with frequent hand washing. I have a very short pixie cut and have used this to style my hair in the past. A couple times I have left the house and forgot to put product in my hair, and this was the only thing I had on me that was anywhere close to what I use in my hair...and it worked perfectly! It's easy to accidentally use too much and make my hair look greasy, so I don't use it regularly, but I'm so forgetful, it's comforting to know I'll always having something handy that can do the job anytime I forget before I leave the house. This is definitely a product I will purchase again and again and again and I highly recommend it. It's more than worth the few dollars Sephora charges for it. (I'm sure it's available elsewhere as well, but it's easiest for me to buy it at Sephora.)

  • Archipelago Botanicals Morning Mint Body Wash

My fiance bought a huge bottle of this on a whim when we were at the Cape a couple years ago. It wasn't cheap, though the large pump bottle was more cost effective than buying the smaller bottle. It's a nice, high quality body wash. The "morning mint" fragrance is a very herbal type of mint compared to some other mint body washes we've tried that had a much stronger scent and a more cooling effect. We liked this a lot, but it's not really our style so we won't be buying it again.

  • Sally Hansen French Manicure Kits

I had one of these sets a few years ago and I liked it well enough. I thought it worked well and lasted long enough for what I paid for it. I got pretty good at getting the stickers on quickly and at peeling them off after the white had dried without peeling off what I had just applied. I like the selection of top coat colors they have available--I had a version with some shimmer to it that I thought was more fun than the traditional French manicure pink. I eventually got away from the French manicure look and got rid of this, but I was never really disappointed with it since it was so inexpensive.
