  • Maybelline New York Full 'N Soft Waterproof Mascara

For a low-priced, drugstore mascara, this stuff is amazing. Adds volume, definition, and length all in one go and doesn't take a long time to do so or a million coats. It is darn near perfect, and that is saying a lot. I have pretty high expectations for mascaras, and this one fits MOST of the bill. The only reason I'm giving it 8/10 is because I discovered The Falsies.

  • Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

This foundation has great coverage (medium - full) and I thought it blended nicely. I used a Real Techniques stippling brush to apply, and IMO, I think it worked really great. The product wasn't TOO heavy feeling on my face, I actually found it to be pretty accurate to the description and mousse-like and airy! I have definitely tried lots of liquid foundations that feel a lot heavier than this product. I did find, however, that it got a little cakey looking when I was all said and done with all of my makeup application (concelaer, powder bronzer, powder blush, and setting powder), but I solved that problem by spraying some Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray on my face. That really pulled all the products together. I guess I could attribute the cakeyness to the powder products I was using, but I wouldn't go without those, so I can't be toooo sure. I think the foundation lasted VERY well through these ridiculously and off-season hot and humid days we've been having. I got a good 8 - 9 hours of wear without much fading or quality loss, and I have insanely oily skin that most makeup just slides right off of. In combination with using my normal arsenal of oil control products that I would not go a day without (mattifying lotion, blotting/setting powder, and setting spray) this foundation fit right in and performed awesomely. I can't say how this foundation would perform solely on it's lonesome, but I would also never just wear a foundation straight up on it's own. Who can pull that off?! Overall, I think it's definitely worth a second look at the drugstore.

  • Maybelline New York Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow

I am reviewing only this shade. I purchased 3, and have only used 2 out of the 3; this one and "Tough as Taupe." The third one's awesomeness is TBD, but, what I can tell you is that Bad to the Bronze is GREAT. Quick, easy, smudgy, bronzey/neutral, shimmery (only ever so slightly, though), and laid back looking. When I want something to dress my face up JUST a tad, I've been using this. It just adds a little extra color and depth, without being too perfect (probably because I smudge it on with my fingers). Finger application is best (if you want that "I-tried-but-I-didn't-really-try" look...you know the one!), although I have never tried any other options. I can't imagine using a brush of any kind for this formula, though. It is VERY long lasting, and does not move or crease all day, and I have oily eyelids (to match my oil-slick of a face, of course!). Very good product, IMO. Can't say as much about "Tough as Taupe" though. I'll review that one separately.

  • Maybelline New York Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara

What. Why doesnt this have all the stars??! This stuff is awesome! Obviously only until something better comes along, but for the time being, it's the best! I had reviewed the "flared" version of this, and did not like it (pretty sure it's a different formula), but I guess something inspired me to try the regular version (in WP, of course, for maximum curl holding). The results were amazing. Amazing length, volume, separation/definintion, and curl holding! Also, with the formula being waterproof, it literally lasts ALL DAY without budging even just a little bit. I really couldn't ask for more in a mascara. My ONE complaint is that the brush definintely has a learning curve...which could be the reason I gave up on the "flared" version, who knows. Give it a few tries to get the hang of the weird, curvy flat brush sitiation, and you will not be disappointed. Yes, I did mascara all over my lids, and yes it was clumps galore at first. Trust though, keep at it, and you will master the application. Excellent drug store buy!

  • CoverGirl VolumeExact Mascara

This is, by far, the best all-around best drugstore mascara I've tried. Doesn't clump, gives beautiful length volume, and definition and it's very VERY quick to achieve these results. I don't have to spend many unnecessary minutes swiping the brush ever so carefully only to have to re-swipe to clean up with an eyelash comb, etc. etc....not with this mascara! I have been looking for a "go to" drugstore mascara since I started wearing mascara, and I've seriously finally found it. I know lots of people say Loreal Voluminous is THE one, but I've tried it, and while it is pretty darn good, this is better. I found Voluminous to be significantly more clumpy than this one. If nothing else has been working out for you, try this. DO IT. UPDATE (a couple years later...): there's better options out there now! But at the time, this was THE BEST. IMO.

  • Maybelline New York Full 'N Soft Washable Mascara
    7.0

Maybelline New York Full 'N Soft Washable Mascara

Don't be too quick to judge, my friends

This is good stuff. It doesn't get much attention, it's unsuspecting, low-priced, and pretty freakin awesome (compared to it's drug store cousins). It's WAY better than it's flashier , spotlight-hogging sibling, Great Lash...that stuff is AWFUL! I have no idea why it get's so much praise. This is the least clumpy drug store (possibly even designer) mascara I have ever used, and it gives just the right amount of volume, definition, and length. It's not really dramatic, so if that's what you want, then this is not for you. BUT, it is a good amount of drama for work or everyday. Tips: curl eylashes before application AND after you've let it dry; do 2 coats (or more if you want), it won't clump even if you try; dab the mascara glob off the end of the brush with a tissue. I guess you could apply these to any mascara, but they really seemed to work for me with this one. Just try it, people. Can't hurt. UPDATE (a couple years later...): the waterproof version is WAY better.

  • Nivea Creme
    10.0

    Nivea Creme

    Miraculous

Absolutely A-MAZ-ING. Just the right amount of moisture, just the right amount of greasiness, a perfect hint of fragrance (not floraly or anything like that, it just smells like some kind of lotion...I dunno, I like it), and a little dab'll-do-ya. Good stuff.

  • Neutrogena MoistureShine LipSheers

I bought this in Ruby Bliss for the holidays. It gives my lips a nice, dark red color. Not too bright and in your face, which is what I wanted. However, I did think the color was going to be a little more sheer than it came out and it was a lot more opaque and matte than I had hoped for. I do really like the color and look of the product, but I'm not really all that excited about the texture (not sheer or "wet" enough for me) and I don't think it is THAT moisturizing. I will continue to use it though, because of the way it looks, which I do love.

  • Nars Lip Gloss/ Lip Stain Gloss
    9.0

Nars Lip Gloss/ Lip Stain Gloss

    Really Great Value

I bought this solely because it was $10 for one at Sephora...so naturally I had to get 2 (Turkish Delight Gloss/Sayonara Stain and Stolen Kisses Gloss/Pampa Stain). I already owned a Nars lipgloss, which I love, so I knew I'd like this. I have yet to try the stains, and I will definitely take heed of the advice people give in this reviews as to not deposit too much color and use it very sparingly. The 2 glosses are awesome thus far though. Turkish Delight is a nice, pale, non-shimmery (which is very important to me) pink color, which would look amazing with a smoky eye. Stolen Kisses is a dark nude with a hint of rose and looks great with everyday makeup and at work. Would I spend more than $10 on this? Maybe...but not much more...I'd probably max out at about $15...but then I wouldn't get 2, and where's the fun in that?!
