  • Tarte Clean Slate Flawless 12-Hour Brightening Primer

I tried this primer because it was on TB's list of best makeup primers, and it was at my price point. I liked it well enough, but it was by no means a holy grail product for me. In addition, I HATE the packaging. Aesthetically speaking, it's beautiful, with clean, simple lines, and it's not bulky at all, so it fits well in a makeup bag or case. But in terms of being able to get all the product out, no way. I still have about 25% left and can't squeeze it out to save my life. This is disappointing indeed. So: it's a nice primer, but not fabulous, and while it might look beautiful, the packaging isn't friendly to getting your full money's worth out of it. I'll be skipping this when I purchase next time.

  • L'Oreal Paris True Match Roller Perfecting Roll On Makeup

Bought this on clearance when I had some dryness/discoloration that forced a foundation change. I love the concept, and I love the application IRL, too. Use a light hand and build as necessary. I rolled it on everywhere then blended with a sponge. Used a brush on the areas where I needed a big more coverage. So far so good. My husband noticed it as makeup (instead of just nice looking skin) immediately, though; even though it didn't feel like a mask, it looked more and more like one as the day went on. A couple of hours post-app my face started itching. Oh well, It's a great concept, but I think it works for very specific skin types...just not mine.

  • Olay Complete Daily Defense All Day Moisturizer with Sunscreen SPF 30 - Sensitive Skin

While I love the brand, and I love how this particular product moisturized (melted into my skin, didn't leave me feeling greasy or like I had a mask on, etc.) for some very strange reason, this made me break out. I so wanted to love this - and apart from the breakout factor, I do! - but just can't use it.

  • CoverGirl SmokyShadowBlast

Smoky ShadowMESS, is more like it. I totally agree with everyone else's low reviews - it went on unevenly, evaporated or caked into the crease within in an hour (even with my miracle UDPP on!), and then, to add insult to injury, it broke. Totally not worth the hype. Looked like a great product, ended up being a great ripoff. Sorry, CoverGirl.

  • Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner

I so wanted to love this conditioner. The smell is a vacation in a bottle, and lasted all day. BUT...this conditioner left my hair feeling tangled, and looking heavy and stringy. I have fine hair, but a lot of it, and I heat-style regularly. For the record, I tried another Organix conditioner because I thought maybe this was too heavy for summer, but the other version does the exact same thing. SOOOO sad!

Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion & Peel System

Love this stuff, but one caveat

This has been a great product for me for a number of years now - it lasts a while, leaves my skin smooth, clear, and feeling almost like silk. The one caveat I have, however, and the reason I didn't give it 9 stars, is that it SERIOUSLY messes with a manicure. So if you use this, use it with clean nails or be prepared to paint on another coat. Just sayin'.

  • Gillette Venus Breeze Razor
    7.0

    Gillette Venus Breeze Razor

A welcome part of my morning routine.

The close shave I get with this razor is second to none, and the surrounding shave gel has made shaving much less of a chore. The scent is very pleasant, and I have noticed a fairly decent lack of nicks. Two complaints, though: the shave gel is always gone before I really need to toss the razor, and I have very dry skin on my legs and the shave gel does NOTHING for them in that respect. Sometimes it seems to dry them out even more. Since I use lotion anyway, it's not a big deal, but I do wish that I could sometimes skip that step on mornings when I'm in a big hurry. Neither of those are so inconvenient that I would stop using these razors, but they're things to consider, and they're why I didn't give this product a higher review.

  • Proactiv Revitalizing Toner
    7.0

    Proactiv Revitalizing Toner

    A nice, non-drying product

I first used Proactiv several years ago, but only used the 3-piece system, and had to quit when, even using it every other day, I was flaking and peeling because of the repairing lotion. It was just too drying. Fast forward to a couple years ago (I'm in my early 30's by the way) when due to some health issues my skin started breaking out again. Nothing was working and it just kept getting worse - dull complexion, scarring acne, etc. - so I thought I'd try Proactiv again. This time I went with the 4-piece system with oil-free moisturizer, and for the past 2+ years, I've had no problems. Every once in a while I take a couple-week break, but I notice a difference if I let it go too long. This isn't my favorite Proactiv product, but I think it's an integral part of the system, because if I don't use it, the BP in the cleanser and repairing lotion is too strong. The toner doesn't seem to dry my skin, but prepares it nicely for the repairing lotion and moisturizer. In fact, it dries so slowly, that it's the first thing I do out of the shower: put on the toner, and then let it dry while I use lotion on the rest of my body and put deodorant. As with the other products, a little goes a very long way; it takes me months to get through one bottle. It feels good, the smell isn't unpleasant, and it's a nice in-between step before putting on the repairing lotion.

  • Proactiv Renewing Cleanser

    Proactiv Renewing Cleanser

    Smells awful, works wonderfully.

I first used Proactiv several years ago, but only used the 3-piece system, and had to quit when, even using it every other day, I was flaking and peeling because of the repairing lotion. Every once in a while I take a couple-week break, but I notice a difference if I let it go too long. All the products except the green tea moisturizer have a very chemical smell, but the smell doesn't linger once they're rinsed off / absorbed. Unless I'm dealing with a breakout (doesn't happen often at all) I usually use the cleanser once a day, in the morning. A little goes a long way (in fact, I only have them ship me product every 4 months because I go through it so slowly!), and it rinses clean and leaves my skin very soft and smooth. I'd give it a 10, except for the smell.

  • Proactiv Green Tea Moisturizer

    Proactiv Green Tea Moisturizer

    Great for nighttime wear

I first used Proactiv several years ago, but only used the 3-piece system, and had to quit when, even using it every other day, I was flaking and peeling because of the repairing lotion. It was just too drying. Fast forward to a couple years ago (I'm in my early 30's by the way) when due to some health issues my skin started breaking out again. This time I went with the 4-piece system with oil-free moisturizer, and for the past 2+ years, I've had no problems. Every once in a while I take a couple-week break, but I notice a difference if I let it go too long. Because the oil-free moisturizer has SPF in it, I picked up the Green Tea moisturizer for nighttime. It goes on very, very light, smells great, and leaves my skin feeling fresh and smooth. Sometimes when I wake up my face feels oily and like it needs to be washed again. Also, every once in a while, it stings my face for a second. If that happens, I blot with a tissue and let it be, but then take a night or two off.
