  • Freeman Feeling Beautiful Cucumber Facial Peel-Off Mask

I used the mask as instructed, starting with a clean face, then applying it evenly over my whole face avoiding my eyes, nostrals, and mouth. After the low end time (5 mins) my mask was still not set so I waited for the upper limit (10mins) I got half way through removing the peel and found that I still had some wet spots. That was a disappointment – but I really like what I saw. (The next time I gave it 15 minutes and it was all set) My skin felt super soft and fresh immediately after using it, and the next morning my skin still felt more conditioned and happier. At a $4.00 price point this is definitely something I would recommend. Some people have reported having extra break outs as a result of using it, so as with any product, you may want to swatch the product somewhere inconspicuous just in case you have a reaction. I would not hesitate to pick another of these up again - especially for the price.

  • Blinc Kiss Me Eye Liner
    3.0

    Blinc Kiss Me Eye Liner

    nope not for me

I was super excited to open this product because I have Blinc's mascara and their eyelash curler, both are great products! If I were to say I had a normal use eyeliner it would be my Tarte EmphasEyes but I’m always open to trying new ones. I figured this product would blow me away. It claims to be waterproof, smudgeproof, and liquid. The formula is a fairly thin liquid and the brush is about the length of my thumb nail which makes it a little too long to control easily. Lots of product gets on the wand which ends up on my face and fingers – annoying. Another thing I don’t like about it is how when you put it on it sets nearly immediately which means if you make a mistake you have to really work to get it cleaned up, whereas most of my other waterproof liners give me a little time where I can attack the mistake with a q-tip. I suppose if you are an expert at applying liner and never need to clean up mistakes then this would actually be a good thing since it would dry and not smudge quickly. Another thing I don’t like is getting it off. Since I shower in the morning I don’t typically have “lots of hot water” to get on my eye to apply both warm water and force as the removal instructions indicate. I can’t use just normal makeup remover to get it off. What I’ve had to do is warm up my makeup remover pads in my hands for awhile and then use them. I’ve only used it a few times but at this point I’ve decided it is just not for me so it is gone.

  • Joico K-PAK Revitaluxe Bio Advanced Restorative Treatment

The formula is a thick cream that smells like a floral perfume. I used it right after I shampooed my hair. I left it in for the recomended 3-5 mins (I did 4) and then rinsed it out. After towel drying my hair I found that it was much easier to comb through than when I use my normal conditioner. Joico claims that Revitaluxe ”actively repairs, restores, protects, and hydrates hair, correcting years worth of damage while preventing future damage. With each application, hair instantly becomes stronger, softer, more moisturized, with improved elasticity.” It is doing all of that. I have had less hair in the drain, my brush, and pillow than before I started using it, my waves are lasting longer, my hair has more shine - it is everything it claimed to be. Will I buy this again? I already did

  • LaRocca Shield Multi-Active Natural Lip Balm

I liked the packaging. It was sturdy and understated. On my lips the balm covered my slightly darker lips with near opacity. On my fair skin my lips sort of disappeared. It might work well over a lipstick. The formula of this lip shield contains a spf of 8. I don’t think that is especially amazing but it’s better than nothing, right? LaRocca claims “This balm, made with Hyaluronic Acid and Camu Camu, is specifically formulated to deeply moisturize and nourish the skin while helping in protecting against germs and bacteria.” I have no idea if I have been protected against germs and bacteria, but it is nice for piece of mind. It smells really nice, like a wildberry jolly rancher. It is the middle of winter right now and I figured, what better time of the year to test a “moisturizing” product than a cold dry winter. I wore it for 4 days straight before I had to stop. This balm made my tender dry lips no more moisturized than using a beeswax only gloss like Chubby Chap. I had to switch back to using my Blistex for a few days and then back to my NYC Liquid Lipshine once my lips could handle a gloss/balm again. I will try it again in the spring when humidity is up again but for now it is going in my “do not use” drawer (which will be my trash if I try it in the spring and still don’t like it). This product would probably be just fine for someone who doesn’t get horribly dry cracked lips that sometimes break open even with the best care, but for me it just doesn’t work. As such I'm surprised at all the love it has received.

  • Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara
    6.0

    Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara

Not as good as other Lancome mascara

We’ll start with the brush. It is not very intimidating. It is shaped like a cone (think Christmas Tree) and has a medium density of bristles. I’m not sure why but I get a lot more product on the tube part of the wand than I have with other mascaras, which ends up leaving product on my face since I hit my cheekbones sometimes. The formula itself is very thick and sometimes clumps on the wand which is tough to fix with the shape of the brush. How does it do on the eyes? I felt that I got tons more length and tons more volume however it really clumped my lashes together which I really don’t like. Would I buy doll lashes again? No

  • Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Concealer
    4.0

Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Concealer

it's a concealer but where is the coverage

Do you ever have those mornings where the area under your eyes looks like Grimace sat on them and left some of his purple behind? I bought this one because I’ve always heard that you should use a concealer that is lighter than your own skin color. Well, I’m super pasty – like bad, so it was difficult finding a concealer that light colored. Additionally my skin has a slight pink tint so yellow based products usually make me look ill - Make Up For Ever HD concealer came in the color I needed so I snatched it up! Lets start with the packaging. The concealer is in a pen with a clicker on one end and a soft rubber nozzle on the other. I can only assume that the nozzle is designed as it is so that the tip can be used to dab the product onto your skin (like you would with your finger) but the problem with that is more product will continue to come out. This is not a major issue, but something that can be annoying. The formula is thicker than foundation but not as thick as a product like Urban Decay’s Primer Potion. The color I got is slightly more pink than yellow. The product blends easily into the skin and leaves the area just a hue lighter with minimal coverage. The purple area under my eye is just slightly less purple after use... Its not bad enough to throw away but I don’t think I’d get it again. There are plenty of other concealers to try.

  • Physicians Formula Organic Wear Green and Gorgeous 100% Natural 2-in-1 Bronzer and Blush

Lets do the good stuff first. The Bronzer is an awesome formula that is really smooth and not chalky. It comes out of the palette evenly and applies to the face the same way. It is a very nice camel color and I use it for contouring on my cheeks. The Blush is a nice rosy color that gives me a very natural flushed look. I use it mostly on the apples of my cheeks. Also, when they are blended together they are a nice warm sun kissed look. Onto the not-so-good good. The packaging is atrocious! It is this paper covered cardboard thing. After some use it ends up looking quite dingy - It looks like I’ve never washed my hands before using it (and believe me, I do wash my hands frequently). So on the top side are the colors and below is a mirror and a brush. Both have a clear plastic window. The window gets really grubby looking – especially on the brush side if you use it. The mirror isn’t really usable since it is exactly opposite the colors, and again if you use the brush it gets horribly distorted. The brush is poor to mediocre but I used it for awhile before realizing how great a good brush feels. Now the negatives about the two colors…The blush ends up being a little granular after a number of uses. It feels like there are tiny pebbles inside it. The colors are also not very pigmented at all. It takes a lot of product to get any color pay-off. It is good enough for me to not feel the need to go buy something to replace it, but I won’t buy this one again.

  • Physicians Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer

I have trouble with their color descriptions and as such have three, and once applied I can’t see a difference between them. This tinted moisturizer only has an SPF of 15, which makes it fine for the office and quick runs to and from my car, but I stick with my Dr. Jart+ Beauty Balm (SPF45) when I’m going to be outside for more than 30 mins straight. This tinted Moisturizer feels really thin and has a bit of a scent – maybe a light tea-tree sort of smell, but not overwhelming or obnoxious. It goes on smooth and even, as if you are only using a light moisturizer. Some people have called it greasy, but I’m pretty sensitive to such things and this one didn’t feel that way (unless I glob it on) The formula helps even out my skin-tone but it still allows me to have my natural flush shine through – so I don’t actually need to wear blush with this (but it doesn’t hurt). I like it – enough to have gotten 3 different shades, but now that I’ve learned more about the cosmetics industry I will probably stick with the higher end brands with the better protection like the Dr. Jart+.

  • Diorshow Black Out Waterproof Mascara

Lets start with the brush. It is definitely not as intimidating as some of the mascaras I’ve used but it is nice and sturdy. The tapered end makes it easy to get to the inner and outer corner lashes, but the depth of the bristles makes it very hard to get the lower lashes without getting your skin as well. The formula? It is a thick consistency, similar to Jiffy Peanut butter. The thick formula coats the lashes nicely and adds volume as well as some length. It holds a curl moderately well and lasts a good 10 hours before things start getting flaky. It is indeed waterproof – however don’t cry too much or it will eventually start getting clumpier. Speaking of clumpy, the distance between the bristles in the wand are a bit too big for my taste and lead to some clumping of my lashes. It’s not a horrible spider leg looking clump but it is still a clump nonetheless. Due to the thickness it is a heavier formula than others, but I still have some natural feel to my lashes unlike others. Mascara – to me – is a MUST. I rarely go without it, and if I can only do two pieces of makeup in my day it will be Mascara and Eyebrow powder. Having a waterproof mascara is also a must, there are times – especially in Seattle – where your face will get wet. When your face does get wet the last thing you want to look like is The Joker from Batman. This does the job, and does a better job than most other waterproof mascaras I've tried at doing things like volumizing and lengthening

  • Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Gel CreamLiner

The Shimmer Strips custom eye enhancing gel cream liner is a set of 3 cream/gel eye liners that compliment your eye color – so you buy the set for the color your eyes are (green, blue, brown, hazel). My eyes are green – so I bought the green set. My set has three colors, matte green, matte purple, and black with green sparkles – very subtle sparkles. They come in three little pots that have caps that allow them to attach to each other – I consider them lego’s for adults. Some people have siad they have trouble getting these apart, but truly, you just pull really hard and they come off – you won’t break anything (you can also try prying with a screwdriver or butter knife). Unlike many stack-able potted products these each have their own caps instead of using the bottom of the next product as a cap, which allows you to throw just one in your purse or keep them all together – whichever you want. So the packaging is sweet – how is the formula? Well, another word about the packaging – each pot has a cap which is important for ANY cream eyeliner. Why? They dry out super fast if left open to the air. If they didn’t dry out it also wouldn’t dry on your face leaving smudgy makeup everywhere. The formula starts out like a really thick gel. It reminds me of the consistency of a body butter. When they get a little dried out it is more like the consistency of a thick cheese spread. Don’t let that deter you though. They have good caps that keep the pigments well sealed. The pigments are bold colors and go on really smooth. You can get a very nice smooth thin line. I’ve also heard of people using these as cream eyeshadows. They are too bold for my taste but I imagine they would work great. These are not the most lasting liners you’ll ever experience. After 8 hours of wear. It looks fine from a few feet away, but close it is easy to see that some of the color just disappeared. It is 100% NOT waterproof. Do not, I repeat, do not go swimming, walk in the rain, or cry with this on or you will at best lose your product, or at worse have bad smudges. Do not get me wrong – I would not endorse these over the some of the more expensive brands if money was not an issue. Tarte, for example has a far superior product. However, these are a good product and are well worth the small amount of money they cost.
