Disney Takes Down Their "Sexy" Version of the "Brave" Princess

I remember first using this when I was about eleven. I felt like I was being initiated into some secret "grown-up lady" society where beauty was pain and glooping on icky-smelling, poorly-textured foundation was the price to be paid for even facial skin tone. Imagine my surprise looking in the mirror and finding that I could still see every red zit and irritated patch, just a couple of shades lighter. For some reason I continued to use this for a few more years, then recently bought another bottle in a pinch before a last-minute client meeting when I didn't have any makeup on or with me. It was the same old story. It smells like calamine lotion, really doesn't provide me with any coverage, and transcends greasy into slimy territory. It was better than not wearing any makeup ... but not much better.

I'm really surprised that others have negative things to say about this foundation. I love it. I didn't find it greasy, it went on smoothly and blended well. It doesn't rub off easily but it doesn't look like stage makeup, either. I found a shade that matches my skin tone perfectly, and I love how well it covers imperfections. I don't find it cakey or chalky at all - just smooth and a reliable cover for blemishes and skin-tone variations.

I got shorted by about 22 hours on the advertised coverage. What a shame. I was really excited about this, because I'd tried CoverGirl's Outlast All-day Lipcolor and loved it. I thought Maybelline would provide me with more shades to choose from. Sadly, the selection of shades is great, but the color wears off within an hour or, at most, two. CoverGirl's Outlast really, truly stays on my lips all day - even though I smoke, constantly drink from a water bottle or coffee cup, and chew pens. I would not buy this product if you're really looking for something that seriously won't come off until you wash it off.

Since buying this, I've concluded it's not the best peppermint foot lotion I've ever used - that would be the one from JR Watkins Apothecary - but it's really, really good. There's nothing like peppermint to refresh tired skin, and massaging lotion into your feet really makes for a one-two punch of refreshment. The lotion isn't sticky, smells like the herb, not the candy, and is reasonably priced. I really liked it!

The freebies at hotels work better for me than this did. For one thing, it smells disgusting. Not just unpleasant, but disgusting. For another, it simply never moisturized my hands at all - which was astonishing since this is not a low-strength "lotion" but actually markets itself as "hand repair cream." This was a big waste of money.

This has a nice smell ... for a minute. Then it really hits you and it's like swimming in an enclosed pool of almond milk. Mixed with oil. Because it's also really, really greasy. I did not find that I could use my hands within even fifteen minutes of applying this lotion without leaving hand cream goop on whatever I touched. Honestly I never even used the whole thing. I won't purchase it again. Too bad, because I thought it'd be a great winter hand cream.

I really enjoy the heady lemon scent of this product. It smells awesome. I love the cute packaging and graphics. But this didn't really help my cuticles, which I was bummed about because I had some real issues. Also, I found that, when applied, it comes off almost right away unless you're sitting still like you're getting your nails done. Maybe overnight with gloves would make a difference. This product is not a game-changer for cuticle issues.

For the price, I'd rather stick with Burt's Bees. I didn't see any results from this that I don't see from BB.

I thought this product seemed like a solid way to manage my dry, acne-prone skin. It didn't help at all; in fact, it may have gotten slightly worse. Since you can buy, like, three Clearasil products for the cost of this one lotion, I'm not sure what the advantage of this line is other than the fact that it seems vaguely natural and thus perhaps slightly "better" for you. I don't think so. However, the website says in its FAQ section, "We may even help you get in your 5 veggies per day!" This is valuable information. Next time I need a serving of veggies, I'll just hold the broccoli next to my face for awhile and eat something that tastes better. Good to know.

I found this product easy to use and effective. Within about three days, the blemishes I applied this to were gone. I love it and bought several tubes at once - one for the office, one for the car, one for home. Different things work for different people, I guess!
