  • Pantene Pro-V Normal-Thick Hair Solutions Split End Repair Keratin Protection Creme

I received the Pantene Pro-V Split End Repair for normal to thick hair from TotalBeauty to review (thank you!) I love Pantene products and this is no exception. This is a leave in treatment crème that is keratin infused. It smells like all the Pantene pro-v line. It is a very light and clean scent that does not overpower with its scent. The packaging explains thoroughly what this product is and how to use it. Pantene suggests to use 1-2 pumps of this product, I felt that was too much and would weigh down the hair. The packaging is sleek and easy to use, though the pump is a little heavy handed so I just used ½ a pump. I used this for three consecutive days to see how it would hold up with different hairstyles and "unwashed hair." The first day, I washed my hair and while it was damp I applied this and combed it through mid shaft to ends, it helped with detangling and making my wet hair manageable. I let the product soak in and blow dried my hair straight, I instantly saw my hair was sleek and the ends were blinded so it looked like I had just gotten my hair trimmed. The smell dissipated but my hair still smelled fresh and lovely, I also did not have a lot of product buildup. I felt that my hair was a lot more manageable and not as tangled as it usually is (both wet and dry.) The first use of this product had won me over. I used it the next day on “two day hair” to tame flyaways and add shine. It worked amazingly well, it did not weigh my hair down or make my hair greasy which is great since most product builds up and makes the hair look greasy and dirty. The third day (today) I used it with hot rollers to see how it would hold up with curly hair. I am in LOVE. It works amazingly with any texture and adds shine as well as it helps hold the desired shape. I’m certain it would work great with updos to manage breakage (which is something else this little product boasts.) This product adds moisture, smooths hair, and binds split ends. I love how this product says it will “end split ends with continuous use” I can definitely see that it will. This product will work out in my hair’s favor! I recommend this for all hair types. This clearly says it’s for “Normal to thick hair” but I have finer hair and I think that this with using the proper amount for your personal hair it will work amazingly for everyone. I recommend this for/to everyone! Thanks to totalbeauty to sending me this award winner! It is now going to permanently in my hair care routine!

  • Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer Total Moisture
    9.0

Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer Total Moisture

    Innovative new go to product!

I was so happy to receive this product from TotalBeauty to review. I love Vaseline, I always try new lotions and always end up using this brand that I have been using for over 15 years. I wasn’t exactly sure what product I was going to receive to review and was shocked when I opened it and saw that it was a spray moisturizer. I wasn’t excited to be completely honest, but of course my curiosity was piqued. I love trying new products and of course it’s a brand I trust. After 10 days of using it, I have to say I’m in love with this product. After the 10 days of testing (which today is day 10 for me) I love it! It might not be the best moisturizer for winter months but I can see myself reaching for this endlessly in the summer. I always skip the step of moisturizing in the summer because it feels so heavy, sticky, and greasy. It’s not worth it I always convince myself. Enter this amazing new product from Vaseline. It’s a spray, which is kind of the thing you would pass in the drug store aisle until you actually try it. It’s a slim light can that packs a moisturizing punch. I do have to say that the packaging (aside from the color which isn’t my favourite) is really well designed (along with great instructions on the actual packaging,) its easy to spray and light to hold so that even spraying your shoulders is easy with this little can. I did have some trouble at first spraying it with my left hand onto my right arms because I’m a righty. But after a couple of times of using it, the nozzle becomes a little worn making it easy to spray. The moisturizing aspect of this didn’t last very long on my dry skin, but I do have to say for warmer months its more than enough, it does have a pleasant smell that has background notes of shea so it does have moisturizing ingredients with lasting power. It is such a simple product to use, it is basically what the name says, you “spray and go.” As soon as you spray you have to rub it in quickly and absorbs amazingly into the skin, instantly hydrating! The one downfall of this product for me is the amount you get. For me a regular lotion will last me 2 months, I feel like this might make it to three weeks, its been ten days and I can see I’ve already used more than half! I do recommend this to anyone who will listen! I will def buy this for myself and will use it in the spring/summer!

  • John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum

I started using the John Frieda frizz-ease serums when I was just in high school and lived in Florida. Needless to say, there’s a lot of humidity and hard water in Florida. My mom first purchased for me because my hair was coarse but fine so it always looked like a broom and no matter what product or hair iron or hair curler I used my hair always looked terrible five minutes later. The first time I tried this, I was baffled. It completely corrected my hair texture. It was smooth and shiny! And MANAGEABLE! It also helped to keep the style very very well. Even in high humidity. Needless to say this was my favourite product for a very very long time. Since then, I have kept using this but have changed from the strongest to the weakest frizz ease serum. It really does work to protect, add shine, and keep frizz away. I now live in New York city/ New Jersey area and it works just as well here as it did it Florida. It keeps my hair shiny and flat without fly aways and adds a beautiful shine with out being too heavy and adding oiliness to my hair. I do have to agree with some that maybe it is a little outdated (they haven’t changed the formula or packaging since this product first came out) and maybe there are some products that work a little better. For a drug store product that is pretty inexpensive it works leaps and bounds. A little goes a long way and it lasts for a very long time. I definitely recommend anyone to try this since John frieda caters to every hair type. I highy recommend this for people who like to change their hairstyle, I found that it holds style well without frizz. I love this stuff!

  • John Frieda Precision Foam Colour
    10.0

    John Frieda Precision Foam Colour

Holy grail at home hair dye!

I am shocked to see that this has average stars/reviews! I (almost) always love John Frieda products so when I saw the “Precision Foam Colour” at home hair dye I squealed with delight. I immediately ran out and bought this product. I do have to say that it’s a little more expensive than other at home hair dye but it worth its weight in price. I found that no matter how long my hair is it always has enough (and more than enough) dye for my entire head of hair. It has a pleasant scent, I have used way too much box dye and this is one of the only box dyes that I do not mind the scent. The steps to using this product is easy, it is also easy to apply without getting it on everything. You simply add one liquid to another and tilt five times and that’s it you are ready to foam dye your hair! The packaging on this product is amazing. It feels very expensive not like the applicator is going to burst. The kit includes the dye, black gloves, and a deep conditioner to add shine. The gloves are great! They are thicker than most that come in box dyes and lend an expensive feel to this at home colour (they are also black which is amazing!) The foam really coats the hair completely and does not drip, so I usually apply this to my whole hair and go about doing housework without being scared that it is going to go everywhere. The foam is deep penetrating really sealing the color in just twenty minutes. I love that it’s a foam so it is easy to apply and easy to see where it is going on the hair. I have used different colours from this line including the darkest black, different shades of brown, and, auburn/reds. I have found that for every color my hair is the same color throughout with out it being streaky or a different shade at the root or the ends. I have also found that my hair is never dry after using this dye. It must be the conditioner that comes with it, it really adds a gloss and moisture to the finished hair. It also dyes with a nice base color and multi dimension. I highly urge everyone to try this hair dye kit! If it is your first time this is a great starter to see if at home hair dying is for you!

  • John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Multi-Tone Revealing Moisturising Conditioner with crushed pearls and sweet almond oil

There are many products in this line including shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, leave in treatment, etc. in John Frieda’s “Brilliant Brunette” line. But I always use the sweet almond oil and crushed pearl shampoo (read my review on that!) and like I stated there, I do skip conditioner when I am using the shampoo because of the texture and hydration it provides. I strongly recommend this matching conditioner as a deep conditioner for weekly use. I dampen my hair with tepid water and slather this stuff on. It smells amazing, it smells like almond but not over bearingly so. It has a very luxurious texture and does not drip so it’s a great product to slather and go about doing house work or your nails! It really provides a deep treatment when left on for 20 minutes, I always see a difference in manageability. My hair is always bouncy and multi dimensional after using this! I def recommend this to my brunette ladies!

  • John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Multi-Tone Revealing Moisturising Shampoo with crushed pearls and sweet almond oil

I usually dye my hair all colors but whenever I decide to go closer to my natural hair color (which is a dark flat brown) I decide to use John Frieda’s “Brilliant Brunette” line. There are many products in this line including shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, leave in treatment, etc. But I always use the sweet almond oil and crushed pearl shampoo. It smells amazing. If you have ever used “WEN” this sort of smells like it. It has a creamy texture but it is not heavy feeling at all, but it really does coat the hair completely. It lathers pretty well but feels like a conditioner so it hydrates well. It also really does work to add a multi dimension to brunette. I have tried it with different shades of brown and it always does the same. I started using this on my virgin hair and I was skeptical to use this on dyed hair because I did not want it to strip the dye on my hair but it seems to be safe on colored hair. It’s a great way to inexpensively make your box dyed hair look like you went to a professional salon to get it expertly dyed. The price is relative. It is a little more expensive for an everyday shampoo but walmart always has great prices on John Frieda. Also for the results that this little shampoo delivers it is worth the price. A little of this shampoo goes a long way as well. Although it does not lather much do not be tempted to add a large amount to your hair. It cleans well and thoroughly with just a smidge. I have oily fine hair and this did not dry or over hydrate making it easy to manage. I def recommend this to any brunette! You will not be disappointed!

  • John Frieda Root Awakening Shampoo

I was really excited to use this shampoo. My mom sent me this product because she loves anything John Frieda but she wasn’t crazy about how this particular line smells. It smells pepperminty, it’s a pleasant smell but this particular product leans toward more medicinal peppermint. This shampoo is similar to the “Hydrate + nourish shampoo for dry scalp and breakage prone hair” she sent me both and I tried this one last. The texture is completely different. It is not a clear shampoo like the hydrate and nourish. It has a creamy texture and it immediately feels heavy. It does not lather very well, I tried just lathering on my wet hair and it just felt like how it feels to put a deep conditioner in your damp hair. I didn’t think that it would do much since it didn’t lather but as soon I finished in the shower and towel dried my hair the texture of my hair was completely different. It was dry and brittle. I had to use Moroccan oil to hydrate my hair. I tried it once more after this just to see if maybe it was something I had done to my hair versus the shampoo being terrible. Well, the shampoo is terrible. It made my fine hair look like a broom. This texture was so hard to get out of my hair. Usually if I try a bad shampoo I just deep condition but this took weeks just to rehydrate my hair. It was odd because my scalp seemed healthy it was the lower third of my hair that suffered from using this shampoo. I usually tell the boyfriend to use whatever shampoo is left that I don’t like using (men really don’t care do they?) and I felt terrible about even doing that, its sitting in my stockpile closet and I’m positive it will stay there. Save your money ladies! I do not recommend this!

  • CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation

This is my first time using a CoverGirl foundation. Since this foundation is a “3-in-1” it is a primer, foundation, and concealer with spf 20 I did not use any primer, foundation, concealer, or setting powder but I did use moisturizer. This is a great product if you’re a zombie in the morning and just need one all around product (kind of like a BB cream) where you just apply and go. I love the packaging, my biggest pet peeve is that foundations do not come with a pump. This one does and a great one at that! It’s also a great value at a retail of 10 bucks and it’s a big bottle and just one pump was enough to completely cover my face. My color in this foundation is “classic ivory 810” and it matched my color perfectly! I do have problematic skin and a red undertone that is really hard to cover. I would label this foundation as a medium coverage buildable to a full coverage foundation. Usually foundations of this coverage feel super heavy and sticky but I found that it was really light weight and it wasn’t sticky feeling. I did wear this to work (I work as a pastry chef) and even through a lot of sweating and changes in temperatures it seems to last pretty well. I didn’t set it with a powder and did not use a primer as I usually do. So that was a plus a lot of steps skiped! At first when I used it I found it to blend into my skin really well but as time progressed I noticed it harder to blend into my skin, I applied this with a beauty blender (damp,) a synthetic brush, and eventually settled to it just blending it in with my fingers. This foundation is one of those that dries really quickly and so you don’t have much time to blend it into the skin. I noticed that it does settle into wrinkles if you wait too long to blend into the skin. This foundation also does attach itself onto dry skin, so sometimes I noticed if I didn’t drink enough water during the next day the foundation seemed to look more raised and didn’t blend into my skin as well as when I was hydrated. I do have to say that if you have really dry skin this might not be the best foundation for you. Like I said this is my first time using CoverGirl foundation and I have to say I’m pretty impressed, it did cover my imperfections, such as blemishes, fine lines, dark circles, and dark spots. I do think that with a primer or setting with a powder the foundation would have lasted from morning (through work) to night without a problem. I did notice it did get a little shiny and not as matte but I just used oil blotting paper and it was fine. All in all, I would repurchase this foundation and more products in this line. I do dock it one star for the dryness of the formula. I wish it was a little more moisturizing, but all in all I strongly recommend it! I’m so excited to be reviewing this CoverGirl outlast stay fabulous 3-in-1 foundation. This product was sent to my by totalbeauty to review! This is my first review of a product sent to me! I followed the guidelines and did not use any other foundation for 10 days after receiving this product.
