Black is the new black!
First of all, I have to say that this mask is a little freaky. But in a good way! I love trying new masks because I believe they are essential to use at least 2x per week to draw out all the oils, dirt and impurities that get buried in your pores on a daily basis. The Boscia Luminizing Black Mask is one of my most fantastic finds. And why is it freaky you ask? When you squeeze the mask out of the tube, it is jet black and stays black throughout the treatment. If applied correctly – a pretty heavy layer so it is opaque on your face – it can come off in one piece and the peel is a bit thicker than others so it feels kind of like rubber. A little freaky right? All I know is that it definitely does its job as my skin felt soft and refreshed and my pores immediately appeared smaller. This mineral-rich mask is formulated to deliver powerful detoxifying, purifying, and brightening effects.

Fake It 'Til You Make It!
A great concealer is really a necessary part of any makeup routine. We all have imperfections we want to cover such as dark spots, dark circles and sometimes even acne scars. I have tried numerous concealers and it is tough to find ones that provide the coverage one needs without being thick or cakey. Benefit Fake Up Concealer is one of the great ones that not only provides great coverage, but it also moisturizes. This is critical if you are going to use concealer under your eyes – the most delicate skin area on our face. This product contains Vitamin E and Apple Seed Extract for long-lasting coverage and the reduction of fine lines. I used this product for over 2 weeks and found it never creased or settled and I loved the silky smooth texture. It is easy to apply and I blended it in a bit further with a Beauty Blender sponge. There are 3 shades and for my fair skin, I used “Light” which was perfect. If you are looking for a great concealer for a great price ~ about $24.00 ~ look no further!

Let’s just admit it ladies – we get acne, we “fuss” with our blemishes and then we get scaring. Sad but true. In an ideal world, we would allow our blemishes to work themselves out but we cannot help to do things that we think will speed up the healing process and we are just left with the consequences. :-( So what’s a girl to do? I am here to tell you that there is a fantastic solution to getting rid of those acne scars fast! It is what I call the miracle working formula of Murad’s Post-Acne Spot Lightening Gel. I had some stubborn scaring from hormonal acne and after a week of using this product, I could see the scaring clearing up and within three weeks, it was gone. This product is safe enough to apply daily and does not dry out your skin. There is a bit of an odor to the product but it’s a small price to pay to get rid of those scars. This gel also evens out skin tone by exfoliating damaged cells and alleviates irritation and inflammation. I love when products multi-task! If you struggle with scaring post-acne, I highly, highly recommend this product!

I Love Butter!
If you look through my blog, you will notice I don’t write a lot of reviews for lipsticks because I have a very difficult time finding great ones. I find most lipsticks are drying or don’t stay on for very long. I probably have a “graveyard” of over 30 lipsticks (yes, 30) in my vanity of all different shades, prices and formulas. Thanks to a fellow beauty blogger, @CremesComeTrue, Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter was highly recommended so I thought, what the heck? I will try another. And to my sweet surprise, these lip butters are FABULOUS! So much so that I have now bought 4 different shades in 2 weeks! These lip butters are created with a pampering gel formula that glides on lips buttery smooth and instantly hydrates. When eating or drinking you will need to reapply but that is true of most lip colors. These lip butters have actually improved the condition of my lips as well as making them look pretty! The four colors I have used and love are: Brown Sugar, Pink Truffle, Peach Parfait and Berry Smoothie. For about $7.00, how can you go wrong?

Can this be the perfect product?
I received a sample of Paula’s Choice RESIST BHA 9 for Stubborn Imperfections which I may not have purchased on my own because of the price (about $79.00 so definitely a splurge). After trying the sample, I actually purchased a full size and also had my mom try it with me to see what she thought – always great to get a second opinion and moms will tell it like it is! This product promises to do a lot – unclog pores, diminish white bumps, minimize enlarged pores, refine and smooth skin’s texture, minimize sebaceous hyperplasia, smooth and soften dry or rough patches, help balance oily skin, fade red marks from breakouts and reduce breakouts. Whew! So did it deliver? After about two weeks of use, I saw some difference in the appearance of my skin. It was a bit smoother and balanced out my T-zone. My mom also reported the same results but because her skin is a bit more “seasoned” than mine, she said it made her skin a bit dry so had to make sure to moisturize well. A little goes a long way with this product so it is best to apply a THIN layer to the skin when you start using it. However, if drying occurs, then I would suggest just using it to spot treat your biggest problem areas and do not forget to moisturize regularly. I do like the results so far so will finish up the bottle so I recommend for those of you who battle large pores and regular breakouts.

Sometimes dry IS better!
Thanks so much to Birchbox I discovered this product – Serge Normant’s Meta Revive Dry Conditioner. I honestly have never heard of the Serge Normant brand before so was excited to try something new. I have used many dry shampoos in my day but never considered a dry conditioner. But it would make sense that most every “wet” shampoo has a conditioner companion so why should a dry shampoo be any different, right? The benefit of this dry conditioner is that it contains Argan Oil, which softens and conditions the hair with shine and moisture for days after a blowout and regular styling. I found that a little goes a long way and it did not leave my hair “gummy” as some dry shampoos tend to do. My hair was touchable, easy to style and my ends stayed healthy looking – not frizzy or frayed. It definitely helped to extend the length of my hairstyle without having to wash my hair every day (which is also not good for your hair but that is a whole other post J). I am now on a mission to try more Serge Normant products!

It's great to be in the buff!
We often only think of exfoliating our face to remove dead skin cells that may clog pores. However, it is just as important to exfoliate the rest of our body to keep that soft, healthy glow and improve the body’s ability to absorb moisture for ongoing hydration. There are many body scrubs on the market these days and I have tried a lot! I find many very harsh to the touch and exfoliation should NOT be painful. A great product I have used lately is Bliss Spa’s Vanilla + Bergamot Body Buff and it is wonderful! It has a sweet vanilla-almond scent and is infused with shea butter so it not only exfoliates, but also hydrates the skin to leave it soft and smooth. I suggest exfoliating the body at least once or twice a week and before applying any self-tanners to remove dead skin and prevent spots and streaking.
