    Anastasia Brow Express Palette

    Great Easy Eyebrows

I keep my eye brows shaped, my problem is that they're not very defined. I usually use an eye brow pencil to fill them in but recently I decided to take a bit further and I bought the Anastasia Brow Express at Sephora. The kit looks like a little book and inside it comes with a brow brush, 4 eyebrow stencils, eyebrow wax, a highlighter, & 2 brown colors. To use the kit you have to first choose a stencil that best fits your eyebrow and has as much of your natural brows within the cutout. Holding the stencil to your face can be a bit awkward. The best way I found to do it was to form a V with my index & middle finger and using them to hold either side of the stencil. Then you have to apply the brow powder using the eyebrow brush. There's 2 shades of power to use. One darker and the other lighter. Pick the one that is closest to you natural color or blend the two shades. Next, take the stencil and remove any hair that is outside of the powder area. Follow by applying the wax cream to keep your eyes brows in shape. Lastly, apply the highlighter along the brow bone underneath your eyebrows. And there you have it. This product has helped me maintain my eyebrows instead of always going to a salon to get them waxed.

  • Sephora Skin Smoothing Makeup Base

    Sephora Skin Smoothing Makeup Base

    An Alternative to Smashbox Photofinish

When I first tried this I immediately thought of Smashbox PhotoFinish. It has a similar consistency, as it is a clear gel-like product. It applied easily and left my face feeling very smooth and a little bit more even in texture. I didn't have to use too much in order to do my whole face. Of all it's claims I didn't think it was as mattifying as I had hoped. It is more mattifying compred to Photo Finish but not as much as other mattifying primers I've used (L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base, Dr. Brandt Pores No More). The packaging is also nice as it comes with a pump so you can control how much you use. I think this primer would work for any skin type and the price is reasonable. It's definitely worth a try for anyone looking for a good face primer.

  • Tarte Lock & Roll 12 Hour Eyeshadow

Anytime a product claims to last long, I'm always a little skeptical. I'm happy to say that Tarte's Lock & Roll lived up to expectations. Lock & Roll is an eyeshadow in a wand packaging. On each end of the wand there is either a loose eyeshadow or cream eyeshadow. The loose eyeshadow has a roller ball applicator, while the cream shadow has a brush applicator. The loose eyeshadow is very find and easily applys to your eyes. To apply the loose eyeshadow you need to give a quick shake to the roller ball applicator and simply roll the applicator on your eyelids. You can then pat and or blend it out as needed. The cream shadow is more of a thick liquid then a cream. It's not sticky and takes a few seconds to dry. The cream shadow comes with a brush applicator so you just brush the shadow to your lids and blend as needed. You don't need to apply a lot in order to get a good color payoff. And once the cream drys it does not bundge. It literally locks into place. The shadows can be worn seperately but to get the full, long lasting effect, it's best to wear the eyeshadows together. First, by applying the cream shadow and then applying the loose shadow before the cream shadow totally dries. When I used this, the shadow does not budge. It claims to last all day and it does. For me it lasted over 12+ hours. I don't really need my makeup to last that long but at least you know you don't need to reapply. Which is good because you don't really get a lot of product (0.14 oz cream, 0.05 oz loose). However, the eyeshadows are pigmented that you don't need to use a lot in the first place. The size also makes it very portable. If you're the type of person that's always in a hurry and need to be able to put on your makeup quick, Tarte's Lock & Roll is great to have. My only wish about this product is that I hope Tarte adds more shades. It currently has only 7 shades. Tarte's Lock & Roll exceeded my expectations and I think everyone should give it a try.

    Benefit BADgal Lash

    BADgal is Actually Pretty Good

I thought this mascara worked really well. I had no problems with clumping or flaking. The formula was creamy and didn't glop on to the brush. The brush itself was big with dense bristles. It works great to separate your lashes giving them more volume. However, since I have small eyes I sometimes found it awkward to use because it's so big. Also, it held a curl to my lash well. Usually I buy a waterproof formula because they hold a curl but Badgal Lash did the job even though it wasn't waterproof. I think the only draw back to this mascara is the price. Other then that it's worth a try.

Maybelline New York Dream Mousse Blush

    A Great Natural Looking Blush

I love this blush. I wanted some blush that wouldn't melt in the summer heat. Maybelline's Dream Mousse Blush lives up to it's claim. It does feel so soft on your skin when you apply it and it does last. You get a very natural flush/ glow and it's also very build-able. I also like to use this as a base for powder blush. But you can't put on any powder before apply this blush or it will cake up. Powder after, Yes. Powder before, NO. I like to apply this blush with my fingers. It's seems easier that way then using a brush because of it's consistency. It does feel like NARS the Multiple but because this is a mousse and and not solid, the Dream Mousse feels softer. Overall, Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush is a great deal for it's price and performance. I totally recommended it but I do wish it came in more shades.

  • TRESemme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo

I have oily, long hair, so I have the dual problem of having oily hair on the top of my head but my ends get dried out. Usually, I wash my hair every other day to keep it from being to greasy while trying not to dry out my ends too much. I decided to try out a dry shampoo to help keep my hair clean in between washes and maybe go for a longer period of time of actually washing it. I was excited to try this product. I like TRESemme products in general. However, when it came to actually using it and seeing the results, I was let down. I tried using this product several times and in different ways. Each time I was left unsatisfied or annoyed. The scent was killer. If you use this product you have to be in a well ventilated room or you might feel like you're being choked to death by a lemon. This dry shampoo is made of mineral clay in an aerosol form. If you have dark hair you can actually see where the clay lands on your hair when you spray it. This is a good and bad thing. It's nice to know where you're spraying the product on your hair so you can evenly coat your hair, but I found that it was also hard to fully brush the clay off. If your using this product lightly, it's not as hard to remove the clay but your hair will still be greasy. If you use a lot of this product, you will have a hard time removing the clay from your hair and you'll end up looking like you have dandruff. Definitely, DO NOT use this if you have other products in you hair already, like gel or hairspray, the clay will stick to those products and get clumpy on your hair. You'll end up having to wash your hair and basically defeats the purpose of a dry shampoo. I will say that maybe if you have light colored hair that isn't very greasy, this product might work for you. However, if you have dark oily hair, I say skip trying TRESemme Dry Shampoo. It's not worth the trouble.

  • Olay Quench Daily Lotion

    Olay Quench Daily Lotion

    Quenched my Lotion Needs

This is one of my favorite body lotions. What I really like about this product is that it really does keep my skin soft. Lotions will always make your skin feel soft at first. The true test is if your skin still feels soft an hour afterward and through the rest of the day. With Olay's Quench Body Lotion it does. It absorbed well by my skin and didn't feel greasy. With body lotions I prefer that they be unscented but the smell with this lotion is really mild and sweet, so it doesn't bother me. I think this is a great lotion for people to have.

  • Too Faced Lash Injection

The Lash Injection mascara comes in a fat tube. It has a medium length wand with thick bristles. The mascara comes in two colors; deep black and hot chocolate (dark brown). It's waterproof to prevent smudging or smearing but will wash off with soap and water. This will last you all day. It claims to be thickening and give length, and it does do that but doesn't hold a curl too well. You want to apply this mascara fairly quickly because once it dries it's harder to add extra coats. Also if you put more than two or three layers of this mascara your lash will start to clump. When you use this product you will notice a citrus type of smell. This was the first time I've ever had a mascara with a scent but I think it's the jojoba & vitamin E that they add to the formula to help condition you lashes.

  • CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Waterproof Mascara

Lash Blast (Waterproof) in one of there newest line of mascara from Covergirl. It comes in a fat orange tube with a plastic bristle application wand. You can find it at any drugstore for around $6-7. I do like this mascara. The bristles separate my eyelashes giving me volume. The mascara goes on smoothly that you don't have to keep reapplying and won't weight down your lashes. I use an eye lash curler before applying this mascara and it holds the shape all day long. It doesn't flake, run, or smudge. The downfall of the Lash Blast is that the wand is unnecessarily big. It's so fat that if you're not careful you could smudge mascara on you face. It's especially hard on the inner and outer corner of your eyes. Also, when they say waterproof they meant it. This mascara doesn't budge. That can be a good or bad thing. It's hard to take it off even with makeup remover. But this is a great mascara otherwise.

  • L'Oreal Paris Double Extend Beauty Tubes

L'Oreal Double Extend Mascara is my newest mascara. I wanted to see if what they were advertising was actually true. They claim that it gives you 80% more length and volume. The mascara is a fat tube with two ends. One end is the the white base/extender (step 1) and the other side is the colored mascara (step 2). The brushes on either end are short, thin, and has covered with bristles. I bought it for around $9-10 and it can be found in any drugstore. When I first tried this product, it did extend past my lashes when I applied step 1. The mascara was ok. It was a bit gloopy which made it hard to apply and cover the white base. It made my eyelashes stick together and I had to take my eyebrow brush to seperate them. The product also claims that it won't budge till you wash it off with water. That's very much true. I little might come off with makeup remover but it won't really come off until you wash it water. In the end end it did lengthen my lashes, gave me some volume, and did last all day but it's wasn't the best product I've come across.
