  • Maybelline New York Fit Me! Bronzer

I'd been feeling soooo guilty for doing some tanning this summer and decided to stop after my face had some color. I have a slightly warmer complexion - a very light caramel that is now just a shade deeper because of the sun. I found this powder for super cheap and decided to buy it and forgo my helio-therapy. I don't normally use bronzer b/c of my already tan-looking complexion, so this powder bronzer was new experience for me. I used the Medium Bronze shade and applied it in natural light. It left a warm, bronze color with only the slightest hint of some gold sparkle. And yes, I could see where I applied it to my skin. The formula seems very dry and flimsy, but for the price, it does offer some color. Doesn't last long, however and it does fade. Don't bother with the cheap brush. For my first foray into bronzer, this is not bad. The price was right - cheap! -and so I didn't feel I was ripped off in any way.

Sally Hansen 5 Minute French Manicure Pen Kit

Just Used The Pen ~ Pretty Cool!

This is a total hit or miss, depending on the user's sense of patience. I'm totally new to French Manicures and just found out how to do them at home because of a few really good tutorials on YouTube. I've realized that to get a good French Manicure that's clean and pretty, it's going to take some time ~ using a pen or brush. I just bought the pen yesterday to see how it worked. This stuff is a tad runny, but I just pushed it lightly onto a piece of paper to get rid of the initial "flood" of product and then did a swipe on my tips. I'm finding that if you do keep a bit more product on the tip, the application comes out much nicer and smoother. If you apply it without enough product, it leaves streaks. I'm very patient and not worried about mistakes though ~ I just wiped it off and redid it until I was happy. This stuff comes off SUPER EASY in seconds and DRIES SUPER FAST....so mistakes are easily remedied. I love the idea of a pen and the ease of use instead of having to drag out the brush, the polish remover and waiting forever between coats and then cleaning up the line, etc. This is just a couple swipes and it dries in no time. Works for me! I probably will do some clean up on my left hand (always problematic for me), but other than that, it looks pretty good. I'm happy!

  • Sally Hansen Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Color

Sally Hansen Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Color

Fuschia Bling-Bling Is My Summer Must!

I've already gone through a bottle of this color ~ it's a happy, lush, bright pink/fushcia ~ a near-match to Essie's "Big Spender" shade. I've used it on both tips and toes and it seems to last me about four/five days without chipping. I ALWAYS do two coats and use a top-coat, so that may have something to do with it. The two polishes I have now haven't thickened or turned gloopy...very little, if any, that I've noticed anyway. Love the little faux diamond on the bottle ~ very clever! I have this in both Fuschia Bling-Bling and Diamond (a really pretty, silvery sparkle/clear shade that offers a lovely, unusual gleam in direct light but is actually very subtle and unnoticeable otherwise ~ a nice touch to a French Manicure as a top coat). I've used Sally Hansen on and off for years and I've always really liked it. I do buy higher end polishes, but this is a great product too. No complaints here.

  • RoC RETINOL CORREXION Deep Wrinkle Daily Moisturizer SPF 30

I'd previously only given this a "1" rating, due to not being able to get past the strong chemical odor of this product. But I was in a pinch and couldn't find my regular Neutrogena Anti-Wrinkle moisturizer in the store when I ran out, so I reluctantly turned to this tube that I'd bought and only tried once. Ugh ~ it still smells, but IT'S WORKING! I'd noticed several very fine lines around and under my eye area and they're now all but vanished. My eye area looks smooth and wrinkle-free. My combination skin is fairly normal, aside from occasional bouts of rosacea and acne. I'm 40 but my skin is relatively smooth, luckily. Anyway, I absolutely HATE the smell of this stuff but I have to give credit where credit is due. This stuff is expensive, smelly and can be greasy, but it works. However, I'm so paranoid that other people can also smell it, that I probably will go back to Neutrogena Daily Anti-Wrinkle cream and using this at night. I just wanted to set my own personal review straight. Excellent but smelly product!

  • L'Oreal Paris HiP Studio Secrets Professional Concentrated Shadow Duos

I have two of these, one is a gorgeous forest green/gold combo and the other is a magenta/eggplant combo. One of them came with a broken mirror and only one applicator. The green/gold combo, called Lively, is my favorite. I love the richness of the color and I usually apply it dry with the included sponge-tip applicator. It feels silky and smooth on my lids and the color really is rich and intense ~ you just have to build to get to the level of intensity you want. I prefer this, as sometimes I want just a wash of color and then at other times, I want more drama and am glad when I know that the product can deliver. This is a quality eyeshadow and I find I'm using this more and more. And lots of colors to choose from, which is awesome.

  • Wen Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner

Was excited that my friend let me use it on a weekend trip we took, because I'd seen the infomercials and was curious. To be fair and honest, my hair is not problematic - it's in a virgin state, long and fairly straight and it does frizz in humidity. I'm not sure what I was expecting ~ some miracle that would make my hair look unbelievably perfect, I guess ~ but nothing happened. Nothing. The infomercial promised I'd be able to see a difference with the very first use. Nope! Maybe only for people with really dry, damaged hair?My friend said this stuff was expensive, but that it worked for her colored, heat-styled hair. I'll stick with my Suave Humectant S & C because it works for me. I'm so not into getting sucked into a payment plan and having to empty bottles and bottles for any results. I just ignore the infomercials now that I did get to try it.

Wet n Wild Eyeliner and Eyebrow Pencil

A Cheap, Fun Way To Experiment

Saw that these were $1 in the store and picked up four - violet, deep blue, white and navy sparkle. They don't go on the easiest - they're somewhat hard and dry, but perhaps the old '80's lighter trick would work wonders here? I love, love, love the sparkly blue color but the violet is REALLY violet, violet! Plus, these eyeliners are like, a mile long. It's going to take the rest of my life to finish one of these. Unless I try to wear each one for a little bit everyday. For the rest of my life. :) Anyhoo, a fun, cheap way to experiment with color now and then.

  • Dove Intensive Repair Conditioner

This conditioner is a beautiful thing. Using Dove for the first time and wow - really nice! This stuff picks up where the shampoo leaves off. Thick and rich, you don't need all that much. It smells fresh and clean and rinses easily, cleanly. My hair is left silky, shiny and isn't weighed down at all. I have noticed that my hair being more silky seems to lead to less breakage - my fingers or the brush glide through it now, so no more hair-breaking tangles to fight with. Love this stuff and it works for my thin, normal, fairly straight hair. Will buy again!

  • Dove Intensive Repair Shampoo

Have never tried Dove hair products and bought both the s & c. Just after shampooing, I usually notice that my hair is tangled and oddly "dry" feeling but I didn't notice it with this shampoo. It's very rich and you don't need a lot for a nice, thick lather. Rinses clean and leaves hair surprisingly untangled. Smells great, too! As for actual breakage control or repair, my thin, weak hair really does feel softer and stronger. Would definitely buy again.

  • Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter

Not SUPER AWESOME, but really nice. I just got this in Berry Smoothie (lush, medium-bright pink). The texture is somewhat rich, not as smooth or "buttery" as I expected. You do have to build up the color with at least two coats. And the color I got is glittery, which I would not have bought had it been more obvious in the packaging. Wrong color for my skin tone - and too much glitter for my big 'ol lips - so I took it off immediately. The taste and scent are of a really faint vanilla sugar, almost unnoticeable. I'll probably try this again in another color. Great product, but I'm not sold on the hype. Clinique's Buttershine Lipstick is much nicer, but for a drugstore try, this works. Update: Just bought another one in Fig Jam and I'm still on the fence. I want to rave about this but just can't. I suppose it's just choosing the wrong one for me or the final color being a bit different than the packaging suggests? My final take: the formula is really smooth to apply, the colors need lots of building to get the desired shade and once you do, it's doesn't last. (Except for the glitter!) I guess it's good, but I've gotta bring this one down to a 7 rating. Still really nice, but not super-awesome.
